Chapter 1

“Oohhh, so Maine was a part of Massachusetts before the Missouri compromise. Gotcha.” Lizzy said in revelation as she wrote down the new fact.

“Ohh, yeah. That explains why it wasn’t one of the thirteen colonies.” Pearl added.

We were studying for our AP History exam next week in the living room of Pearl’s house. Pearl’s home is secluded, so there weren’t any distractions, not even traffic, his parents were also out for the night, so we had the whole place to ourselves just for studying. And if anyone needs an explanation for his name, his parents met at a Pearl Jam concert. And he hasn’t a sister that could have been given that name.

“Why wasn’t Vermont one of the thirteen colonies again?" Pearl asked.

“Because New York and New Hampshire were fighting over it, with others wanting Vermont to be a state of its own, so it didn’t officially become an area of its own until after the Revolutionary War.” I explained.

“Oohhh, ok, thanks, Kierra.”

“So what did you guys think about The Rise of Skywalker?" Mike asked

“GGGAAHHHh! Rei and Ren…and 3PO and Palpatine is…and dyad… and the force and too much feels!!" Lizzy collapsed from feels.

“Well that’s one way to put it.” Said Vanita.

“It’s a good story, but I still don’t like the way they took it. They waited too long to make more movies, there’s too much of a time gap, the way things are with the empire and the resistance doesn’t make sense, it would have been better if they had followed the books more closely, Thrawn would have been…”

“Oh, not Thrawn again!” Vanita threw a pillow at me to empathize her point. I let it hit me in the chest.

“Come on, let’s get serious.” Mike insisted, getting us back on track for a minute before everything went black.
