Chapter Zero
The sky was dark and the air was thick with tension. A stream of green coated the sky, giving off an eery look that was just so beautiful and captivating. The forest trees swayed by the cause of the harsh wind. It was known to be hot in the land, but because they were so close to the water, it was a bit chilly. All that was heard was the waterfalls and the animals who walked around with their guard down. Head down looking for something to snack on, on this dark night.
That's how Mika liked them. Vulnerable, off guard and weak. So hooked on finding its prey that they didn't realize that they were a prey and the predator was just as hungry— if not more.
From the rock in front of the waterfall, she watched as the jaguar moved smoothly around the forest. Head high and canines out, looking for something to eat for his family.
Just like Mika.
Her dominant right hand tightly gripped her spear while her just as strong left hand was placed onto the floor. Her right leg slid out while the other was kneeled. She was in a battle form. About to fight this jaquar to death.
And that's what she did.
With her teeth bared out, she snuck behind the jaguar and purposely stepped on a twig. Mika could easily snap the jaguar in half, but she wanted to have fun. She wanted to feel the sudden thrill of killing something that was just as dangerous and could kill her in a second. She yearned for a challenge.
"Oh, you're a feisty one." Mika said in her native tongue. Her back a bit bent as they both circled each other.
With little to no patience she reached out and jumped over the jaguar. She felt its claws scratch at her toned stomach as it tried to stand on its back two feet. She knew it was going to leave a mark, but her mind wasn't on that. It was on getting this jaguar to be her dinner and breakfast if it didn't spoil the next day.
Her legs latched onto its back and she threw the spear down towards the ground. Irritation set deep into her when she realized that the jaguar wasn't letting up. It was jumpy as she sat on its back, like a horse. Scratching and clawing at her legs that were strong as steel.
Her hands reached out and gripped its neck and twisted roughly. The snap of its neck and the feel of its body going weak made her smile with victory.
The jaguar collapsed onto the ground.
Cold.
Dead.
It's soul slowly gravitating from its body and into the air— into another realm while its body would be a delicious meal.
Mika grabbed its neck like a lioness grabbing her cub and yanked it up. Her bare feet moved quickly and smoothly through the night with her meal. She walked and walked and walked before she came in contact with the torches her tribe used for light.
The heat from the fire surrounded her giving her the warmth that she didn't need, but thanked for anyways.
"Mika is here." She heard someone yell.
Half of the tribe came running towards her with bright smiles.
Mika was always known for bringing them back food along with the people that were assigned that job. But she was known as the person that was fast, sneaky and lethal. It was her job. Her passion.
Something she was known for doing. Something that they needed her for and she was glad that she was out to use in that way.
"Thank you, my Mika. We will cook this now." Her mother; Akira, the leader of all women, hugged her tightly and kissed her cheek. She held her daughters arms tightly and smiled at her warmly.
Akira was very much proud of her daughter. She grew up watching the strong men and independent women fight for their lives, fight for their land and she stepped up wanting to become like them. Become more than them. She wanted to be a warrior. Like her father.
Her father; Cairo, looked at her and nodded before walking off. His face was stoic and his tall figure was large and dominant, but she knew that, that nod meant he was proud. And that turned her stomach in a good way.
"Don't feel so nice. You probably caught that jaguar while it was sleeping." She heard the sound of the familiar sultry voice behind her. The voice that nagged her each and every day since she was born.
Moe Takiyah.
Her and her family were also part of the tribe. Moe and her mother were one of the best cooks on the land itself. Sometimes they would have gatherings at night and they would cook for everyone in the Amazon. It was tradition.
Moe's parents were also close friends with Mika's parents, but that didn't mean that they got along one bit. Since they were younger they were at war with one another. They had the battle scars to prove it. Continuously they would fight around the land and had to be separated by different tribes because they fought everywhere and anywhere. It wasn't anything new to anyone. Although some people believed that Moe was jealous of Mika, she never admitted it. Mika had it all. The people loved her. She had the strength and she had every young man drooling over her slim body that showed some of her assets under the clothes that were made from nature.
Mika had everything, but felt like she had nothing at the same time. She knew that she was wanted by majority of the men in the forest, but some of them weren't what she was looking for. She had the body, the brain, the stamina, the leadership and her beauty was outstanding. Of course she was a rebellious woman at times and did the unthinkable. She was only twenty. She had the right to do so. But she was only satisfied in the moment. That wasn't what she wanted. She wanted to be satisfied at all times.
As she watched Moe walk away from her with a hard glare she chuckled and shook her head before grouping with the rest of her tribe.
