Chapter 1

Amavii

"Now, our deal of the day is 75% off all clothing, excluding clearance. If they are card holders, they get the 75% off plus the addition 10% for being a Old Navy card holder. If they choose to open a card toady, the can cut the line and get an additional 20% off with the 75%. Uhh...fleece pajamas are $10 and if they ask, no we don't have any more matchy pajama sets. Go it?" My manager rambles. I just nod my head and grab a walkie.

"Great! I need you in kid and babies today, just making sure everything is in order and your going to be 1st backup at cashier one." She stated and again, I nod.

She sent me a sent me a forced smile, then headed out her office. ugh I hate it here!

I head out of the back room and over to the kids and babies section which was in the back of the store. It was hard to even move around because everyone and their baby momma was in old navy cause of black friday. Meaning lots of deals.

Starting with the tables, I resized and folded all the denim then moved onto the baby and toddler girls shirts.

As I'm folding, I hear a small voice behind me along with small footsteps.

"Excuse me..." The small voice said. I turned around and seen a cute little girl with blonde hair holding onto her shirt extra tight with tears swimming in her eyes.

"what's wrong babygirl?" I pulled my braids back into a ponytail before crouching down to her level. She looked so scared and shy.

"I can't find my mommy..." She cried. I pulled her close and rubbed her back, attempting to calm her down.

"Its okay, I'll help you find her" I paused. Reaching for my walkie, I grabbed it and pressed the button that allows you to communicate.

"I have a little girl here who's lost her mother's and she's ver-"

"OH MY GOD! EMMA!" I heard a lady yell and large footsteps sound as if they were coming our way.

I look to my left and see a lady in her early thirties who resembles the little girl, rush over to us and yank her out my hold.

"Oh don't you ever scare me like that again, you hear me?" She cried and pulled back to look who I'm assuming is Emma , in her eyes.

"Yes mommy..." She whined while lightly rubbing her eyes. Her mother side then looked over at me.

I have her a small smile, but she didn't return it. Her face became very turnt up as she looked at me in disgust.

"What the hell took you so long? Why didn't you tell anyone that my daughter was alone and missing? You didn't even call the police!?" She yelled. I became nervous and began to fidget with my fingers.

The lady was causing such a scene that a handful of customers stopped what they were doing to watch the encounter.

"Ma'am, I wasn't aware of your daughters presence before she approached me. I apologize if I gave you the idea that I wasn't handling the situ-"

"Handling? HANDLING!? how can you not notice a little girl by herself in a store?" She yelled. I opened my mouth to speak but nothing could even come out.

I looked around and seen everyone looking at us. I've never felt so embarrassed. Here I am being yelled at by some white woman and I can't say anything back, because if I do I lose my job.

"I didn't know she was here. Like I said, until she came up to me..." I stated, barely above a whisper.

"If she was taken it would've been your fault! Ugh, this is why I hate Niggers..." She placed a hand in her to head while muttering the last part .

"What did you just call me?" My mental switch immediately flipped. I looked at her shocked expression. She didn't think I heard her.

"I don't know what your talking about." She shrugged. Emma hid behind her mom's legs and stared up at me.

"Yes you do, so don't play with me." I stated calmly. She rolled her eyes and glared at me.

I stepped up to her to see if it would intimidate her. Sure enough the bitch clutched her purse.

"What's the problem here? Ma'am?" My manager says from behind me. On spot, the lady begins to act hysterical .

"This girl was harassing me and my daughter! She said awful things to me and threatened me!" The lady pointed in my face while dragging on her innocent white woman being attacked by a ruthless black person act.

"Amavii, is this true?" My manager looks at me and raised her unwaxed eyebrow.

"No sir, I mean ma'am! She insulted me when I tried to walkie in that her daughter was here without adult supervision." She scoffed and looked over at the customer.

"I'm very sorry this happened to you ma'am. I would like to offer an extra 25% off any item including the 75% deduction." She smiled at the lady who as well, smiled at her.

Is she serious?

Everyone begins to disperse and go about their business while I'm stuck in my spot, shocked as hell.

My manager turns around and glares directly at me. At least she shows some true feelings towards me.

"My office. Now."

"Care to explain what that was about?" She sat down behind her desk and crossed her hairy ass arms over her chest.

"Sir, I mean ma'am! I didn't do anything wrong. The lady out there was yelling at me because I was trying to help. She then led on to use a very disrespectful racial slurs a and then tried to act as if she didn't know what I was talking about when I confronted her on it." She scoffed and shook her head.

"You cannot play the race card because a costumer is having an altercation with you, Ms. Harrison. Doesn't work like that." She waved her had in my direction, shooing me away.

"Go on. I don't want anymore buckshot like this teaching my office when you could be simply handled the situation differently. " I huffed and turned to walk out.

I can't believe this man is talking to me like this. "Race card". That was just racist for him, I mean her, to even say. What the fuck has my life come to? My own fucking boss is racist? I mean what should I expect? Everyone that works here is white, old and bitter.

I took a deep breath before turning around and walking up to his, fuck! I mean her desk.

She had a bowl of Chinese food in one hand. And was using the other hand to dig in her ear. What the fuck? Eww...

I cleared my throat and she jumped slightly in her chair. She looked up at me and rolled her eyes while groaning.

"Can I help you?" She whines while sighing. She tilts her head to the side while holding her food close to her stained green Old Navy holiday t-shirt .

"Yes, yes you can. Uhh...I don't want to work here anymore..." I hesitantly stated. I released a breath I didn't know I was holding as soon as words passed my lips, feeling a huge weight being lifted off my shoulders.

I finally fucking said it!!

"Well, that didn't sound convincing," she laughed and took a piece of Orange chicken in her mouth .

"Scurry along and do your job." She looked me up and down and laughed again, while muttering under her breath.

I took my name tag from my shirt and slammed it on her desk, causing her to jump and Chinese food to go everywhere.

"I said I quit!" She looked back over to me with soy sauce all over her face and shirt.

I couldn't stop the chuckle that I was trying to hold back. Seeing her with shit all on her face and her angry expression was hilarious as fuck.

I quickly grabbed my last check from the stack near her desk, grabbed my shit and left.

"Mami, you mean to tell me that you actually quit your job?" Rosie squealed in our kitchen. I chuckled and pulled on the sleeves to my oversized sweater while looking at my lap.

"yeah...I did." I looked back up at her and she was doing this weird dance and saying something in Spanish .

"Finally! The job didn't pay you good anyway. Mami, you did it!" She ran over to me on the couch and jumped on me. I laughed as she hugged me tight while giggling. Rosie is always like this. She's been this way since I've met her.

Me and Rosie met about a year ago when I moved to San Diego. My friend Cece offered to let me stay at her place until I got on my feet and I soon ended up meeting Rosie through her at a party. she offered to let me stay with her and roommate and I accepted. I thought I'd be living in an apartment or something, being that she needed a roommate, but when it was time to move in, I seen that she had a huge house by the water. One thing led to another, and we soon became inseparable.

"Yeah I know, now I don't have to work on Christmas. Damn and I really wanted that time and a half." I whined. She laughed and playfully pushed my shoulder.

"Mami, even if you didn't quit I wouldn't have let you work on Christmas anyway, pero I already told you that your coming with me. So don't try and get out of it." I couldn't help but groan. Not this again...

"Girl I already told you, I didn't want to barge in on your Christmas." She scoffed and picked up her glass of wine from the cover table.

"you must be estúpida if you think imma let my niña spend Navidad by herself." She sipped her wine while rolling her eyes.

Being that me and my parents fell off, I didnt have anybody to spend Christmas with. They think I'm cursed because "God's child wants to live in the city of hellfire". Their words, not mine. I grew up with Christianity shoved down my throat. Everything we did was eat, sleep, and breathe Christianity. I for one, do believe in a higher power. But the thing is, I'm not a Christian.

I personally cannot partake or participate in a religion that was the motivation for slavery and imperialism. I just can't. Plus, everyone in the church was so pro-god that they'd harass gay individuals or even the women at the abortion clinic. Who does that!?

When I told my parents how I felt, they began to pray and tell at me. The hey wanted me to become a female doctor or surgeon, but I wanted to be a historian. They told me I wouldn't get far in life and I was going to hell. So yeah, there's that. I ended up moving away and I haven't spoke to them in a year.

"I just don't want to intrude... " I shrugged and laid my head back on the couch.

"Mami, my family is all about familia and welcoming our own. Your not intruding because I consider you mi familia, and whoever is my familia is their familia. So don't think that way, Mami. Plus, my veintiuno is coming up next week and what better way to spend it than in my beloved Tijuana with my niña? Hmm?" She rambled. I chuckled and shook my head. She's definitely something alright...

"Fine..." I dragged. She squealed and jumped off the couch. Grabbing her glass of whine, she ran up the stairs to her room with me in her heels.

When I got to her room, I seen her sitting on her pink king sized bed with her MacBook in her lap. As she was scrolling through her laptop, she wore a focused expression.

"What are you doing?" I laughed and plopped down on her bed. She giggled and looked over at me.

"I'm on Fashion Nova. If we're going to my country, we need to travel in style, Mami. Plus, I'm telling Stassie, Perra and mi hombre to come too!"

I laughed at her excitement.

This should be interesting...

First Chapter down! This is actually my first book that isn't a fan fiction! I'm always coming up with different ideas for books and this is one I thought of recently. don't got the idea from Miss Bala with Gina Rodriguez and Ismael Cruz Cordova.

I wanted to keep the aspect of Cartel and the whole friend who's from Tijuana aspect but I wanted to spice it up!

Now as for Manny Montana's fine ass, I had to have him.

He's so ducking gorgeous I couldn't help but include him.
