Disaster

I stand in front of the store that once we're the dreams of my parents, I begin to cry. The store used to be a candy store with many children always visiting to get candy. I remember children always smiling once my father gave them candy, they were precious memories that I would never forget. But after my father died the business went into ruins.

"Anna hurry we have a train to catch," my mother said with a tone filled with sorrow trying not to cry. "Yes mother," I said while whipping my tears away. Just a week ago when my father was still with us I graduated college finally getting my business degree. When my father found out we held a huge party. Everyone was so cheerful at that time, but how did it turn out to this?

As I and my mother were walking to the train station I could tell people were staring at us. But then a heard a little boy that had an orange shirt and white shorts and shoes say to his mother "Mommy, I heard that girl's father died, is that true?" I stopped dead in my tracks while looking at the ground. We lived in a small town so of course, everyone would know, but why do I feel so angry when I hear a stranger say that with no acknowledgment of what they just said.

The boy's mother hushed him and apologized for her son's rudeness. My father died of Ischemic. It's heart disease. My father had heart failure and died. So when we woke up the next day and found my dad dead in bed we were miserable. People stopped going to the candy store after my father died. While looking at the floor thinking of what that boy said I felt rage and sadness, but then I feel a pull on my sleeve.

"Anna hurry! why did you stop walking? The train will be here at any second" my mom said. I rush to keep up with my mother as we enter the train station. "Wow that was a long walk," my mom said exhausted. "Why don't we play eye spy in the meantime while the train comes?" She said trying to comfort me. "Mom," I said "when we go to the city I promise I will get a job and become a CEO" my mom laughed and looked at me with a smile. But before she could talk the train arrived. "Come on its time to go," she said trying to rush me to the gate.
