At The Top
I’ve never been so high in my entire life.
For years I had worked and struggled to get here.
Busting ass in hopes that this day would come.
Where i would find myself up here with the untouchable idols of my eternal imagination.
Finally, after years of hard work and dedication.
I made it to the top
Wouldn’t you know it? The wind wasn’t even cold...
So many years to achieve this very moment so easily cleared away.
Seemingly out of no where I found myself zip lining back down to reality.
A vile of Narc-an up my nose and my favorite shirt cut into pieces on the side of me
Surrounded by so many concerned faces and people calling me “buddy” like I matter to them more than the exciting story they get to share over the water cooler.
They peel me off the side of the road.
From the ditch they found me in
Rush me to the hospital.
Where I’ll be just another junkie.
If only they had left me alone.
Pissed off for just a little bit longer
I could have gone out on top
I’d never been that high in my entire life
