Summary

Bell Harvest is just one of the royals. She has her own craft, is a humble duchess living in the kingdom, and has to keep her traditional Chinese name a secret. She has what she considers to be a stupid genetic mutation which gives almost everything she does colours, and other weird things. She knows that secrets have been hidden from her. She isn’t just another mutation. She could be a danger to everyone in the kingdom, and with Sir being a rebel, she has nO idea what to do.

Chapter 1

Chapter 1

The room is silent, or at least everyone is trying to make it. The stupid soldiers standing guard outside the room all have an obvious presence. I have nO clue how the hell I am supposed to do anything in THIS crap environment.

Eldon looks at me from the other side of the table, where he is seated peacefully and nods. My eyes shut and I attempt to focus. Sir always tells me to ‘feel’ every atom that IS the object, and I really hope it works. The teacup in front of me shifts around slightly, before slowly lifting up into the air.

“Great, now try to....”

Smash.

I send the cup flying across the room, barely missing Eldon’s head as it crashes into the other side of the room, breaking into fragments.

“Bruh,” Eldon says, getting up in exasperation, “A freaking 8 year old can move a cup up and down, but you insist on letting it unintentionally smash against the wall, and maybe potentially killing me?”

“Who says I did it unintentionally?” I retort as I too get up. I get the pieces to return back to its original form and on the table, only leaving a red hairline crack. Hopefully sir will not notice.

“A red, how angry were you?” Eldon smirks.

“Angry because Sir insists that I have to do these dumbass tasks. And we all know ’moving a cup up and down” is not what we came here for.” I say, removing the ribbon that is keeping my hair in a bun.

“For thé younger one, you sure are one hell of a Beast.”

I roll my eyes but smile.

“Oh nO, not the cool beast, the absolutely delusional one who tries to kill their own brother, you know, the big fat ugly ones.”

“The Beast species only kill weak and fat Clifflings, so, maybe you do know more about Animal Studies than your grade shows.” I snap at him jokingly. He punches me in the arm. “Mate, I only failed that test because you keep hogging my book.”

“Like it’s my fault Steve had pneumonia?”

“Oh you lil piece of....”

The sliding door swings open and we immediately stop bickering and stand straight. We see Sir at the door, much to our shock.

“Sir, you aren’t meant to be out in broad....”

“Mmmm,” Sir puts his hand up to silence me, “Come with me.”

Fuck. It’s dangerous enough that he’s here out where everyone can see him. When the idiotic middle aged women down by the village start talking, the Royals’ statuses go insane. Me and Eldon aren’t even anything special. We are just a couple of kids who happen to have Royal Blood and stuff, and being a duchess and duke isn’t as cool as being a princess or prince if some sort. Unfortunately, all sorts of discrepancies come with being a member of the Royal Family.

I try to make a layer of invisibility around us as we walk back to the ‘Palace’, but it just looks like a bunch of broken people walking across.

The ‘Palace’ is really just a large traditional castle like building where all the royals reside in. We enter from the wall of ivy that leads to one of the Halls used for practice, which is where we were supposed to be.

“Sir, I can....”

“You think I am stupid?” He yells in broken English.

We stay quiet.

“I tell you children, stay in this place, and, what? You go to the room to practice your ‘magic’ and break cup from my tea set? You stupid child! You think I is not noticing the red cracking? I am not old and crippled like you is thinking!”

I try not to laugh, but I know he means it this time. It isn’t the first time me and Eldon have snuck out.

“One more times, and I will tell your parents, are you hearing me Bell and Eldon Harvest? You crazy, crazy I says....” he shakes his head.

What a damn hypocrite. Says the one walking out in the day thinking nO one can see.

“I come out to stop you, Bell, you idiot child. If not, you break more things, very expensive. And a RED crack, what, someone break your heart?”

My veins pulse red for a second but quick enough for nO one to notice, at least not Eldon. Sir shakes his head in disappointment and snaps his fingers, disappearing to who knows where.

“Damn, he was actually nice this time. But in all seriousness, have to be careful. And um, since you seem to be ‘seeing red’, you should probably consult one of the maids or something.” Eldon smiles and walks off.

Great. Out of all days to be red.

It’s a rare genetic mutation of something, it isn’t anything cool, like I have a great unique ability. All related to the royal throne can do some sort of craft. Unfortunately whatever I do comes in colours and sometimes a bit stronger, which apparently expresses how I feel of what I do or something like that, and the idiots like Sir, or even Eldon who study these things know all about it, which is annoying.

Red represents angst, of some sort, but like, REALLY angry, like someone stole your cat angry, commonly shown in battle.

Orange is mild frustration, when you are mad about something irrelevant, like breaking a vase.

Green represents this calm like state, which hits interesting spiritual levels. Thankfully I have never experienced that, because I heard that it was a controversial one.

Blue is a neutral state, quite unexplained.

Teal is the one where you feel powerful, accomplished and all

Pink this the dumb one where you like someone and for it is pretty well known for ruining relationships.

The dangerous one you don’t want to hit is Black, I do not know much about it, but I am not keen on learning more, a predecessor of mine had the same mutation, and it did quite a bit of hazardous things.

I huff. Maybe a book from the library may help me understand my weirdass ‘condition’ more.
