Chapter 1
My name is Amanda Gold and I'm 17 and in the witness protection. I just finished my sophomore year here in Texas and now I'm being moved to Florida which is a dream of mine. So, it's the beginning of summer and my life is changing so much I lost my parents and brother. God, I miss them so much. My brother Travis was my best friend he and I talked about everything and he was my protector.
Now I'm alone and have no family left but our family dog Brandy she is a chocolate lab. It's just her and I. Every time I cry she is there for me to hug. She started out as Travis's dog but then came the family pet.
I am 5'3 and I weigh 160 which is fine by me. I have long auburn hair that hits my middle back. I have bright blue eyes. My skin is caramel color and I love it. I have a nose ring, I have 2 piercings in my earings and 1 in my cartridge in my left ear, and I have a belly ring. I have ankle bracelet tattoo that I got with my best friend Shay it's on our right ankle.
So here I am about 72 hrs later in my new home and state for now. I have a nice 1 level house but it's big with 3 rooms and 3 bathrooms. It has a nice size kitchen, living room and dining room. It also has a nice walk in food storage closet. The room I picked has a lovely walk in closet and nice bathroom. It's has about 4 windows.
I live in a nice neighborhood. The only thing I have to do now is keep a low profile and hopefully Greg Owen the man that killed my family and now is after me won't find me.
I do plan on getting a tattoo in memory of my family. I have no aunts and uncles. My parents never had any siblings. My grandparents on my mom's side died a few yrs ago they both had liver cancer because they drank so much. Then my grandparents on my dad's side died in different car accidents. So, now it's just me lonely o me.
My heart breaks every time I feel lonely and look at my family picture of the 4 of us.
I'm sitting in my living room watching some type of movie then my door bell goes off.
I get up and look through the peep whole and see a girl standing their. I open the door.
Hi, can I help you?
"Hi, my name is Shay Moore and I'm your neighbor across the street. I just wanted to welcome you into the neighborhood?" Said Shay.
Hi, thanks.
"You know you remind me of my best friend that lives in Texas. God, I miss her every day. Sorry I didn't mean to bring it up." Said Shay.
The next thing I know is I'm hugging my best friend and crying. I've changed alot since she saw me last and I know she doesn't recognize me now cause my hair is black and my clothes are some what baggy.
I pulled Shay into the house and I couldn't help it but show her it's me her besty. I were wigs cause I love my hair that I won't cut it unless I really have too.
Shay it's me Amanda.
She steps back and says "this isn't funny who ever you are."
I pulled my wig off and showed her my right ankle tattoo that she has. She looks at me then my ankle and hers. Then she hugs me crying saying how much she misses me and I'm crying to for missing her and my family.
Shay I need to tell you something but you have to promise me you won't tell anyone else. This is a life and death situation that I'm in and I need you to tell me that you can keep my secret or I can't tell you.
Shay says "I can and will keep your promise for as long as I live. I pinky swear."
So, one day I came home from a date and I heard my mom yelling no. So, I went to look for them and found them and Travis tyed up in the family room. I saw my brother first and went to untie him. He took me up stairs and hide me in his room where he told me to climb out the window and get help. Well while we were hugging we heard 2 gun shots down stairs and Travis told me that they just came back from the store and found a man that broke in and from their it went bad. The person found my brother and I. Travis yelled at me to get out while he tackled the person. I couldn't get the window open for nothing so I went in to the hallway were I heard another shot and saw Travis coming out holding his chest then fell on the floor. I ran to him not thinking but then the guy grabbed me and was pulling me into my brothers room. He was trying to have his way with me but I fought so hard.i did manage to get away but he had managed to cut me and I was getting bruises from where he had held me down. So, when I managed to get away I went to the neighbors that I found out had called the police. So, now this man is after me and my name is Leah Black I'm in the witness protection until they can get this guy caught.
