Chapter one
I lagged along to the bus stop just slow enough that the night lasted a bit longer and just fast enough that I didn't miss the bus entirely.
The ride was soothing and the rain drops song played against the buses window making me sleepy and wanting to reach my bed as soon as possible.
The ride home took the usual ten minutes plus a five minute walk. I was surprised to not have feel asleep in such a soothing environment but I was just enough awake when the bus driver reached my stop that I hoped out and began walking.
The light rain wet my bone straight black hair that fell to about five inches above my hips. Although I didn't mind. I loved the rain.
I walked as slow as I could through the small forest that blocked my path straight home. I wasn't worried about creepers or kidnappers. No one would dare hurt the daughter of Alpah Rein. They would actually be doing the exact opposite. Helping me in any way possible doing anything for their alpha's daughter.
I followed the dirt path down to the giant wooden cabin that held my immediate family. We owned one car. Yet there was a nice unfamiliar black one parked next to it.
I pushed my key in and twisted until the door clicked open.
There was loud booming laughter and light giggles sounding as if it where coming from the living room. I was curious about what was going on and why there was a car outside and unfamiliar voices but I headed to the kitchen first instead. Grabbing a bottle of water I turned and jumped when I saw Alpha Jackson standing at the enterance.
"Alpha Jackson." I tilted my head downward polietly acknowledging our guest
"The beautiful Rose. Always a pleasure." he kissed my hand and I fought the urge to pull away in disgust. Where was my dad or brother when I needed them. Why in the hell did Alpha Jackson think it was okay to talk to me this way when somewhere out there he had a mate. Especially in my own home.
"What brings you to Oborine?"
He opens his mouth to speak but my father cuts him off. "I see you and Alpha Jackson have gotten acquainted."
"Yes." I confirm still confused as to why he's here at all
"Why don't you join us back in the living room?" my dad says stepping aside
I shoot him a confused look and he just nods as I make my way into the living room with Alpha Jackson and my dad right behind me.As soon as I step in my brother and mom shoot me sympathetic looks. I also notice Jacksons Beta sitting in a black recliner rather emotionless.
"Mom what's going on?" I asks still standing
My dad interrupts yet again. "Rose. Dear Alpha Jackson has asked your hand in marriage."
"What?" I blink harshly thinking maybe I've heard him incorrectly my eyes darting from my dad's then to Alpha Jackson.
"Rose-"
"What about my mate? What about his mate?" I exclaim my heart beat getting faster
"Well since he's gotten older unfortunately his chances of finding his mate have dropped but his pack can not go much longer without a Luna."
"What does that have to do with me?" I say
"You will be luna and if you find your mate you will be free from your duties."
"No." My mother and father have shocked expressions but my brothers is emotionless as if he knew that was coming "My sincerest apologies Alpha Jackson. But I can not betray my mate in such a manner. My father knows how much I value saving myself fully for my mate. I understand that finding your mate may be harder since you've aged. But I urge you to continue your search." I nod sympathetically
"Rose. It's already done."
