River
Empty River
A Short Story
by Kaytlin
Dusten Smart was thinking about Alexia Welo again. Alexia was a cute girl with short hair and bright green eyes.
Dusten walked over to the window and reflected on his cool surroundings. He had always hated empty River with its tired, thoughtless trees. It was a place that encouraged his tendency to feel sad.
Then he saw something in the distance, or rather someone. It was the a cute figure of Alexia Welo.
Dusten gulped. He glanced at his own reflection. He was a short, mean, tea drinker with short hair and blue eyes. His friends saw him as a scaredy-cat, a moster, the only time he was a hero was when he saved a weird old lady from a burning building.
But not even a short person who had once rescued a weird old lady from a burning building, was prepared for what Alexia had in store today.
The rain hammered down, making Dusten happy. Dusten grabbed a sandwich that had been put in the nearby fridge.
As Dusten stepped outside and Alexia came closer, he could see the big glint in her eye.
"I am here because I need help," Alexia exclamed, in a weak tone. She slammed her fist against the side of the wall, with the force of 4392 dog. "I frigging need your help, Dusten Smart."
Dusten looked back. "Alexia, I don’t want to help you," he replied.
They looked at each other angered, there was a speaker in the house which had jazz music playing in the background and two cowardly uncles bopping to the beat.
Suddenly, Alexia lunged forward and tried to punch Dusten in the face. Quickly, Dusten grabbed the bat and brought it down on Alexia’s skull.
Alexia stumbles, She looked angry, her
body raw like a knobby, knotty rope.
Then he let out an agonising groan and collapsed onto the ground. Moments later Alexander Welo was dead.
Dusten Smart went back inside and made himself a nice cup of tea.
