New Friends
My first day at South Ridge High! I thought to myself while I waited for my first-day guide to arrive. I was on Instagram when a cold breeze hit my legs. A tall figure stood in front of me.
"My name is Amilia Anderson," The tall girl said. The door opened again. "And this is my brother, Luka. I'm your first-day guide. You must be Lila Santiago."
I smiled, "Yep, that's me." I looked a Luka. He had a tall and muscular body, light brown hair, pale skin, and hazel eyes. Amilia, on the other hand, was, tall and skinny with thick curly brown ringlets, had a perfect tan, and green eyes.
She smiled, "Luka, thanks for walking with me to the office. You can go hang out with your friends now."
He nodded to Amilia and then to me, "It was nice meeting you. If you need anything, you can come to me. This one is never really that much of a help." He said motioning towards his sister.
I giggled and my face felt like it was burning. He left and Amilia pulled me to my feet. "Ok, we better get going," She looked at my outfit.
I had on a navy blue miniskirt, a white collared shirt, a navy cardigan, and some black heeled boots.
"You should have worn something warmer. Here follow me." I followed her into the girls' restroom. She set her bag down and pulled out some sweats and an oversized hoodie. "We always get students from the warmer parts. I wanted to be prepared."
She hands me the clothes and told me to get dressed. I did so and stepped out of the stall. "Sorry the hoodie is so big; it's Luka's. I wanted you to be comfy but I have no hoodies."
"It's ok, it's very comfy. Thanks." I put my hair up in a messy bun and slipped on my tennis shoes.
Amilia showed me to my locker so I could put my other clothes in there. After my bag was ten tons lighter, she showed me to all my classes, my dorm room, and the best spots on campus. Amilia gave me a ton of club options too.
The rule was you had to participate in at least one club per-semester. Amilia was in the 'young designers' club and literature club. Luka was in science olympiad.
"Ok, you should be ready!" Amilia said excitedly. According to my schedule, my first class was English. Amilia and I walked to class together; this was her first class too.

We walked into a class full of tired students. Some were asleep, others had books waiting for class to start. Amilia saw a hand fly up towards the back of the class and dragged me over there.
As we got closer, I saw it was Luka and another girl, a cheerleader. "Lila, this is Bridget Foreman, my best friend," Amilia said, interrupting my thoughts.
"Hi! You must be our transfer student. Amilia wouldn't shut up about you. She's been working so hard for your arrival." Bridget jumped up to greet me. Amilia giggled slightly.
"Hey, Lila. I saved a seat for you" Luka said shyly as Amilia and Bridget 'Awwed'. As they did this I blushed.
"Is that Luka's hoodie? Are y'all dating?" Bridget asked excitedly. I snuck a glance at Luka to see what his reaction was to all this. To my surprise, he had a grin on his face.
"No, Bridget. I just had to give her one because she wore some really short clothes to school today. She was too cold and I didn't want her to get sick on her first day of school." I blushed ten times as hard as last time while he gave me a side hug to warm me up and as he explained to my new friends that I was from a warmer part of the U.S.
"Yea, I had no idea that it was gonna be so cold today. I came from Californa so that's all I have mini skirts, short shorts, crop tops, and tank tops. I have a few hoodies from my ex but other than that I have no warm winter clothes." I continued to explain to the group.
"I think we need to go to Cape after school for a shopping trip!" Amilia declared. I thought it was a good idea. I could learn more about the area and I got some new clothes. Maybe my new friends could help me with my little problem.
"I think that's an amazing idea, A. What about you Lila?" Bridget snapped me out of my daydream.
"I think that's a fun idea. You guys can show me all the best places to go and maybe we could grab a bite on the way back." I said excitedly.
"All right. It's settled. Cape, here we come!"
