Chapter 1

Moving wasn't fun. Especially since I'm forced to move to an actual winter wonderland. Everfelt was so nice and the weather was perfect. Too perfect for my parents though. No matter how much I protested, they forced me into the car and now I have to endure the most longest ride of my life. We were moving all the way to the other side of the continent to Socliff, the coldest place in the world. Socliff have actually records on the weather, and it had reached to -105° before. Now of course that was before climate control but still, why would people want to live there? We're they desperate to move the population so there's more room for other rich kids? Now don't get me wrong, rich people live in both Everfelt and Socliff, but Everfelt was more of a rich worthy paradise.

I pressed my head against the window and watched the beautiful scenery fly by. A small sigh came from my left as my sister glared out the window. My brother Blake and sister Tanya weren't too happy about the move either. They had way more friends that they were leaving behind, but even I was considered their friend so it hurt me just the same. They worst part is that my brother had a girlfriend that he loved more that anything, and now that was getting taken away from him. I turned my head forwards and stared at back of my mother's head.

"Mom, why do we have to move? I know dad found a good job there but is there another reason why?" My mother sighed before replying. "It's good to go somewhere else for a change. There are so many adventures waiting for you."

I rolled my eyes and turned my head back towards the window. While I'm waiting, I should probably introduce myself. I'm Capi Rembrandt, the youngest child in the family. My father has been successful all his life, running various businesses and companies while my mother worked as a bartender. My siblings aren't very successful but they are quite popular which easily makes up for it. As the youngest, I've gotten everything I wanted and has been loved by my entire family, including siblings. I never really had lot of friends and I honestly like it that way. I don't like talking about myself since people take advantage of my due to my superiority.

I let out a sigh and closed my eyes. I allowed my mind to wander. What if I end up enjoying my stay at Socliff? What if I hate it? Questions ran through my mind like a bullet train, and my head started to hurt. I forced my mind to clear and soon enough, the deafening sound of the car radio started to fade out, signalling I was falling asleep.

"Capi......... Capi! Capi wake up!"

I woke up to someone yelling and violently shaking my shoulder. My eyelids fluttered open as my mind tried to function. I looked over at Blake who was still holding my shoulder in his hand. I looked out the window and found snow everywhere. The sun was hidden behind layers of clouds, making the snow appear to be a dull grey. The car had come to a stop, allowing me to open the car door and step out, my siblings following suit. The snow made a soft and comforting crunch as I stepped out onto it. Small snowflakes fell from the air, a cold but gentle breeze blowing by. I looked around and gazed at the surprisingly beautiful scenery. The trees were covered in snow with a mystical feel, the lakes were frozen into a bright blue, and icicles hung from the shingles of houses.

"Capi, Tanya, you two can go up to the house and pick you rooms. Blake, help us move stuff into the house while the moving truck is on its way." Our father gave us quick demands in his usually stern voice while handing Tanya the house key.

Quickly unlocking the door, Tanya allowed me to enter through the door first before entering herself and closing the door behind. Heat consumed my cold body as I went into a complete shock. The house was huge with a large foyer that has two curved staircases in the back, leading to the second floor. The floor was nearly polished with a large white rug covering most of it. The walls were a dark oak along with the staircases. Large windows occupied the walls, giving us a good view of the snow. I slowly walked up one of the staircases, my fingers grazing against the polished wood. Not one floorboard creaked as I applied my full weight on the second floor. I slowly walked through the hallway, the light fixtures hanging from the ceiling, illuminating the area.

Doors lined the hallway, each one either being closets or bedrooms. I opened a polished oak door, and gazed into the room that lied behind. The room was large and had dark oak walls. A queen sized bed with five pillows; two white and three blue, white bedsheets and a light blue blanket covering it was pressed against the farthest wall from the door, a small white nightstand with blue drawers next to it. A large window was facing the door with light blue curtains drawn back, snow gently hitting the window before melting.

I made my way downstairs due to my mother calling me. My boots clicked against the floor with every step of took, signalling my approach. Tanya looked up from her phone and looked at me before going back to what was so important. Blake had put down the box he was carrying and used a towel our father gave him to wipe off the sweat from his forehead despite how cold it is outside.

"Your father and I are going to go down to the company he works at so he can get some paperwork done before he starts. Blake is in charge so be good and listen."

Our mother turned towards the door, our father opening it for her. They both walked out and closed it behind them slowly making their way to the vehicle. Once they left, Blake made his way upstairs before shouting behind him.

"I hope you two picked your rooms cuz I'm about steal one" That statement alone made Tanya run upstairs after him, shouting in protest. Lucky for me I put a sign on my door.
