Madness Abounds
"The plot of the story was fascinating, even if the writing was rather ordinary. There was an excellent buildup of emotional and psychological tension throughout, and the characters of Kit Gillian and Doctor Marshall were dynamic, relatable, and impeccably portrayed. Marshall's descent into madness was terrifying to witness, especially when taken in conjunction with the frightened men lurking about the house (whose purpose remains unclear to me), but there was an astonishing potential for sympathy in the last paragraph; it displayed beautifully just how pitiful a madman can become, no matter how heinous his actions."
