“What are you looking at?” asked Seth (best friend of Victor) with a smile on his face and giving a teasing look to his friend.

“Nothing special” replied Victor.

“Really?” asked Seth teasingly “ I had often seen you glancing at her since you first encountered her but last few weeks I noticed that you keep on looking at her in a different way…………. Hey buddy!! (patting on Victor’s shoulder) Tell me what is there in your mind? You know you can’t hide anything from me. Just tell me what are you thinking?”

“Do you by any chance like her?” asked Seth suspecting his friend.

Victor turned his face towards his best friend and gave him his angry look clearly stating Don’t-you-dare-say-this-loud-again.

“Hey! Hey!!Hey!!! (pulling his hand away from Victor’s shoulder) Don’t give me this look. You know I am sooooo scared of this look of yours” by saying this Seth put his arms around Victor’s shoulders and continued “ It’s just that whenever she comes within your line of sight you just can’t keep your eyes off her and so I thought maybe you like her”

“I have a girlfriend” said Victor looking into his best friend eyes.

“I know but I also know that none of your girlfriend stayed for more than six months” said Seth chucking.

“If you don’t stop here trust me I am gonna beat you till you bleed” said Victor angrily.

Seth mockingly kept a finger on his lips showing that he won’t speak a word now but the teasing look was clearly all over his face which can easily be noticed.

“You are not going to stop this……right?” said Victor by giving a smile to his best friend.

Victor knew he can’t do anything to Seth, his best friend because he is the only person who can read his mind and that too correctly.

“Okay! Okay!! You are right. I like her but I can’t tell her. I had been liking her for a long time now but don’t have courage to tell her. You know that she is top student and everyone likes her, appreciated her, respects her, praises her. She is the ideal example when you define someone good and I-”Victor stopped here when his friend interrupted him.

“and you are the bad boy of school, a boy who gets suspended every next month for having a fight, a boy who has top name in school bad boy list. In other words you are the ideal example of a perfect bad boy, right?” stated Seth.

“(nodding his head) Hmmm………………… but I don’t have the desire to get the feelings reciprocated…………All I desire is to see her smile but since the beginning of this two months break I had not seen her smile….not even once. I just get the feel something is wrong with her…..something big and worse that is breaking her in some way but I don’t know what?”

The worried expression was clearly written all over Victor’s face when these words escaped from his mouth. Seth had known his friend little secret for quite long now but never in his dream he had thought that his friend will be this serious for some girl.

“Hey! Relax Man!!! She is my brother’s classmate, you know that,right?”

Victor nodded.

“I will try to find out the reason. You can relax, okay!! There won’t be something that bad. Now come on, lets go to continue our basketball. I am gonna win this time. ….Come!!!” Seth said these words to console his friend and tried to lift up his mood. He pulled Victor towards the basketball court on the corner of the ground but Victor kept on looking back to have a sight of the girl, thinking whether he is right or not. Deep inside he wants to be wrong and wishes to see that smiling face again.
