O wind, if winter comes, can spring be far behind?

The dense gloomy clouds of Corona have wrapped every part of the globe, scattering its aura of horror. And until we wait for the clouds to clear and the spring to blossom and touch our lives again, we must look for the silver lining. We must introspect for positivism around us and try to minimize the panic and pain from Covid -19.

Our generation didn’t witness any lockdown before. Who would have thought that the time would come in our lives when all hustle bustle of our life will come to a standstill and we would be locked down in our houses? The panic has gripped all of us. It is one of the toughest and the most challenging phases in everyone’s life. I am sure that not only me but, most especially of my age group are experiencing the same emotions. The current circumstances we have all been put under are definitely not easy to live in. We are being drawn away from our fixed routine and work is not pleasing at all. But again it’s for everybody’s benefit and so following law and order is the most appropriate thing to do right now.

In a 1959 speech, American President John F. Kennedy famously said: “When written in Chinese, the word ‘crisis’ is composed of two characters — one represents danger and one represents opportunity.” It may sound weird to address the Covid -19 as an opportunity but we can help ourselves and people around us to deal it with better by using this quarantine time as a chance to learn something new, to practice something new. God has given us opportunity to spend some quality time with our loved one and to indulge ourselves in learning and living this new less hectic lifestyle of ours.

It’s been a week since the lockdown started and still two more weeks are there. This quarantine period has taught us many things like food is so important for us to survive. We should value the food we eat. It’s a blessing that we never went to sleep without food but we never realized the importance of food before.

We all have been running a mad race of earning money where we hardly give time to our parents, our spouse and kids. This is the time to slow down and match the pace with them. Spend time with your parents and listen to them. Learn how they have dealt with difficulties before. You along with your spouse take this time as an advantage to be with kids at home when no classes are there to bother them. Teach them about the importance of building the right character, habits and attitude to deal with all that life brings along. Take time out to read with them, write with them, watch with them, cook with them, and exercise with them, meditate with them, clean with them, and just be with them. Spend some quality time with your spouse. Have heart to heart talks which were getting missed amidst busy routine. Watch your favorite movie or series together.

As soon as this period will get over, you will be back to your routine and there won’t be this free time to all this. This is the best time to indulge in all such things which you were missing out. Remember always that the present moment is all we have to create our life, and we have to prioritize things we want to do NOW. There is no point regretting about the past and worrying about the future. Times like these are the test of human being and a true value investor. Being calm, motivated, spending time with family and learning is the best thing to do now.

This too shall pass. Be safe and responsible. Life will definitely find a way.
