Chapter 1
Queen Eleanors cries are heard throughout the Castles halls, causing King Stephen to hurry out of his office. It was time now, time to greet his new heir. Nerves begin to bubble inside him and doubts. Many what ifs begin to form in his mind. As he turns the corner he has a little flashback of his best friend King Alessander and the conversation they had just a couple days ago.
*Flashback*
”Oh my dear Alessander, I do hope it’s a girl, that way we can have both our kingdoms finally united through your son Prince Alexander in Matrimony!” Exclaimed King Stephen as he patted his long time friend King Alessander. “It certainly would make our kingdoms much stronger, not to mention how happy our Queens would be with the grand babies!” Agreed King Alessander.
*End Flashback*
Today could be the day that will determine the future of both kingdoms. At that thought he picked up his pace even more as he turned yet another corner to where his bedroom chambers were located. He could hear the midwives scrambling about in the room, he took a deep breath and pushed through his metal doors and was welcomed with the most sweetest cry of his baby.
His beloved Queen Eleanor was propped up against the headboard holding their little bundle of joy. Exhaustion could clearly be seen on her face as sweat glistened off her brow. She quickly looked up and smiled, “ My King, I’d like to introduce to you our precious joy, Princess Sophie!”
King Stephen couldn’t believe his eyes, their Princess Sophie! As he took her into his arms, and looked up omg her delicate features. All his worries and doubts vanished, and he silently vowed to protect her from any harm.
*10 years later*
“You can’t catch me Alex!”, Squealed Princess Sophie as she pushed Prince Alexander into the puddle of mud. “Oh you’re gonna get it!” Yelled Alex as he scrambled to his feet after Sophie. Towards the end of the day they were both covered head to toe in mud. Their cheeks red from all the running and laughter from the day. Queen Marie, Prince Alexander’s mother, came out and saw the complete mess they were in. She had on a stern face as both Alex and Sophie approached her cautiously. Queen Marie just shook her head and smiled, allowing Alex and Sophie to exhale not realizing they were holding in their breathe. “Come along now you two, you both need a bath!” Said Queen Marie as she gestured them to come along inside.
Every summer since Sophie and Alex could remember they would go to either kingdom to spend the whole summer together, switching kingdoms every year. Both Sophie and Alex were oblivious as to the reason why, but both parents were very happy with how their friendship was going, and had hopes it would turn to something more. Both Sophie and Alex were the best of friends and always looked forward to spending time together in the summers. They even had their own secret hide out in each kingdom where they would sneak off to any chance they had. This is how they grew up, each year growing closer and closer together. Their bond becoming stronger that they were almost inseparable. When they weren’t together, they would send letters back and forth, or once they were older they would meet half way for picnics. This was the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
