Introduction

The journey to obtain knowledge is one that many have set out to achieve but no one has ever returned. The journey is not one for the weak of heart or mind for what you may find is not what you wanted. Whenever man has set out to obtain knowledge they lose themselves along their path and what they find is death and sleep. Instead of finding knowledge man makes a deal with Thanatos and Hypnos where they are forever forgotten by the world they once walked upon. Due to mans greed and lust for knowledge Apollo divided his spirit into five fragments and had them scattered across the world in order to stop man from their own destruction. The fragments which were scattered included: a golden bow equipped with silver arrows, a golden lyre, a locket that carried an eternal light and twin serpents. Since dividing his spirit into five fragments Apollo had become weak and in fear of meeting Thanatos, Apollo asked Gaea if she could spare his life and allow him to live among the Earth. Gaea accepted Apollo’s request and with the last of his spirit Gaea grew a sacred laurel tree on Mount Olympus in honor of Apollo and let his spirit live on amongst the Earth. Soon days turned into weeks, weeks into months, months into years and years into decades and decades into centuries. Ten centuries have passed since the day that Apollo was laid to rest and the world had long forgotten Apollo and man had forgotten their greed and lust for knowledge and in the absence of knowledge man began to lust after power. Ares saw that man had become blood hungry and set out to wage war against them, upon finding out the true intentions of Ares, Zeus casted him out of Mount Olympus and forbid him from ever returning. In anger, Ares decided to wage war against his father and with the help of Aphrodite they gained an army and went to wage war against the Olympians. Zeus feared that Ares would destroy Earth and the sacrifice that Apollo had made would be for nought. With this, Zeus sent Artemis to collect the five fragments of Apollo in hope of having Dionysus resurrect him and help stop the needless blood shed that Ares and Aphrodite would create. The story begins with Artemis and Hermès leaving Mount Olympus as Zeus, Poseidon and Athena set out to stop Ares and Aphrodite.
