that one camp counselor

there she goes, posting on social media. i see it often.

her two-thousand-something Honda Element – and her –

against the world. she fears nothing but loneliness.

she loves nothing but existing alone.

she travels for a living.

her blog is full, as is her heart and her purple Chaco sandals.

on the surface, she may appear different. a strong, acquired taste even.

this is because she is. but different is necessary.

as necessary as the oatmeal for breakfast;

as necessary as the summer rains or winter snows flush the windshield;

As necessary as her need for freedom and laughter.

I imagine her loving, thriving, but with inklings of self-doubt.

“Am I enough? Am I remembered?”

And she is, but because she travels, she feels alone.

This is okay. She is okay. Her two-thousand-something Honda Element and her.
