The introduction
If another vampire bites a vampire. They now have a bond; humans call it love. But this relationship is stronger its related to the vampire's mortal enemy werewolves. Werewolves or what they like to be called 'shifters' have something called a soul mate. Given then by the moon goddess, princess of the night. Ruling both species alike.
The moon goddess felt terrible for her vengeance giving species, they were unable to love each other. So she gave them a gift. She sent her daughter down, to find the one her mother had set her up with.
This man was charming, only a couple hundred years old. They fell in love fast. Her mother had given her specific instructions.
"When you find him, bite his neck. Not just anywhere, bite him where the shoulder meets the neck. "
So that night she did. Biting down on his pale flesh. Something happened, a purple glow admitted where she had bit Down. Swirling patterns appeared on her partner's neck. Etching a beautiful design, of the moon and two lovers. The same design appeared in her own throat. Reflecting the two as enteral mates. The two now rule the kingdom of the vampires.
The subjects learning about this beautiful feat decided to find their mates. But things got out of hand many not knowing or were too young to figure out how to love. The king and queen cast a date for all vampires to start there search.
The men would have on their fourth, tenth birthday. The women on their sixth tenth if they were not already found. Once the couple was spotted, they would have to go through a series of tests to prove that they were mates. No ones know what these tests are as the older mates won't tell.
Centuries and Centuries have passed now. The two still rule. But will they rule forever? Or will A new Couple arise from the night?
