PROLOGUE

Europa Penitentiary, Planet Jupiter

A WOMAN in a large summer dress screams her head off as JIMMI, donning a blue saddle bag, tries to pin her down. She’s trying to reach a nearby van where a CONSTABLE in a red beret and blue-plated armor clings to a boy of around five years of age. The boy’s hair is twisted in short dreadlocks that hang down past his chin. This boy is SANSAPITO. He’s being charged with treason.

The constable flings the boy into the back of the van, in one swift plunge, and draws the lock. As the van swerves off the grass verge, we see the words EUROPA PENITENTIARY inscribed on it.

The van’s departure ignites a burst of moxie in the woman. She knees her captor in the groin, to loosen his grip on her. Then she takes off after the van. Jimmi goes after her, calling out to her and clutching his groin, the bag still strapped across his neck.

Jimmi: Rabeka, get back here

The whole drama scene is now turned to a racing competition between the van, Rabeka and the man with the blue bag. A throng of onlookers lend serious company from the sidelines. They chant a lot of gibberish. Common sense might suggest that the crowd is urging either the woman or the man to go on. But the lingo suggests otherwise. They are actually casting damnations at Rabeka.

crowd(Subtitled): Death onto you, lady, death onto you.

What with the damnation, the distance between Rabeka and the van is gradually embedded. Jimmi adjusts his bag and increases pace. However, as the van rounds a bend, the speed is set to two thousand.

int. van—

The constable with the red beret is on the passenger seat. His wooden face is more to a dolly than a human race. His fiery red eyes sparkle, emitting blue-black smoke. He’s no different from the driver of the van, a plain-clothed man in a black beret

The speedometer hangs at around two thousand. The cop with the red beret looks ahead. The red-carpeted ground disappears underneath the car as fast as the crowd behind white-painted barriers.

The cop with the red beret looks into the rearview mirror.

ext. van—

A series of white stamps, emblazoned with the four-digit number 2500, follow Rabeka’s steps. Jimmi advances his speed to three thousand. In the wake of his steps, white stamps are formed on the red-carpeted grass. But his are painted with 3000 in Arabic numerals

Ultimately, Rabeka catches up with the van and takes a leap. She dangles precariously overhead just as the van is brought to a screeching halt. She strives to balance her stance on top of the van, but inertia is not on her side. She drops on the hood and slides to the ground.

Jimmi collides with the van. The force of collision pitches him to the left. He slams into the white-painted railings that serve as barricades and slumps to the ground—for good.

The van begins to move. Rabeka clutches at the fender.

rabeka: Stop, you vile murderers!

As if a reply to her call, the driver stops the van once again. The cop with the red beret hops out. He moves round to the fender. Zilch!

int. van—

As Rabeka hops in. She connects with the cop-driver with a left jab. He goes limp. She pushes him out and takes control of the wheel.

ext. van—

The cop with the red beret didn’t know what hit him. The van runs over him and keeps on going.

The crowd goes wild!

int. van—

Rabeka is in control of the car. She turns to look at the slot immediately behind her head. All she can see on the slot are two bulging eyes.

rabeka: you’re safe, my boy.

sansapito (o.s): Mom! What are you doing?

rabeka: Saving your soul

sansapito: You can’t do this! It’s against the law.

rabeka: Shut up.

ext. van—

The van exits the square and hits a secondary road. The crowd follows in hot chase.

montage—THE CHASE CONTINUES
