Chapter-1 : A Monday Morning

Eliza Jade Wilson

You know that feeling when you feel detached from the whole world and lost in your own dreamland. Yeah, the same feeling you have on Monday mornings when we have to wake up just for the sake of being human.

Somehow, I had woken up on time today, showered, dressed up in a pair of jean shorts, a crop top and a pair of sneakers and dragged myself downstairs to the dining table. All this hard work was just done to receive my daily dose of energy filled with sweet, creamy richness with a mouthwatering aroma made by my dear Aunt.

If you haven't guessed by now, let me tell you about the most important fact about me i.e. I love coffee. I am the most caffeine addicted person you could find. So, just imagine that as soon as Aunt Rose placed the hot steaming cup of coffee before me, it was stolen by Andrew from my outstretched hand. You can practically feel that all the hell broke loose.

So here I am, running around the sofas to get my hands on the coffee thief who is currently teasing me with his mischievous smirk."That was my coffee, you bastard!", I shouted.

He smirked again, "Didn't see your name written there, Liza".

Before I could give a sassy reply, Ashlyn bounced in the room and chirped happily,"Good morning, my fellow housemates!!"

Ugh... Seriously?? Who can be so energetic on Monday morning?. Definitely not me. This kind of talent is reserved Ashlyn.

Her silky blonde hair were tied in a ponytail that went well with the skinny black jeans and pink crop top which had she paired up with black pumps. This girl has an awesome fashion sense. Her almond shaped eyes and their green colour had definitely come from Uncle Mike's contribution of genes. With her cupid's bow shaped lips and peach skin, she stood at 5'5" and had a hourglass shaped figure.

"Good morning to you too, sweetie!"Aunt Rose replied."And stop grumbling Liza, I will make you an another cup."

Satisfied by her response I sat down and devoured my plate of delicious pancakes. I looked around the table and took in the people who have been my family for past eight years.

My Aunt Roselyn Kennedy, who had been the motherly figure for me which every child craved. She was strict when needed and understanding when wanted. She had an elegant personality with which she handled the household and my business pretty well. She had ebony black hair and the same chocolate brown eyes as my Dad. She became our legal guardian when my parents died in a fire eight years back, leaving her in charge of two eight year old kids and a trillion dollar worth thriving business.

Uncle Mike Kennedy was a big beefy man with a manly peppered stubble and blonde hair thinning with age. He had an outgoing personality and loved to travel. Our house was adorned with hallways lined with pictures from his various holiday destination. When we were left in his care,he gave up his passion for travelling and settled down as became the managing director of Raven Industries - my Dad's company along with my Aunt who owned a series of restaurants across the state. He had been always there when I needed a father. So much money and such a position had never been able to waver his principles and he still refused to take up the position of the chairman which he believed was rightfully mine. So the least I could do in return was provide a helping hand in business when needed. I smiled at him when he looked up from his newspaper. The affectionate smile i got in return was the one i was used to since many years.

Sitting on his right was Ashlyn, the sister i had always wished for but never had and she was truly more than I deserved. She was about to turn seventeen and was junior just like me, waiting to be a senior in two weeks. Her cheerful personality was a bit annoying sometimes but she was quite an empathetic person. She was caring or feisty according to the situation.

Sitting across from Ash was my coffee thief, Andrew. Ash's younger brother who turned sixteen during Christmas break and was currently a sophomore in high school. He was at least 6 feet tall with well defined abs and the chocolate brown eyes of my aunt. The olive brown skin was a match of my uncle's. It was hard to believe that he was sixteen. He was quick to crack a joke or fire off a humorous retort,or in simple words -he was the joker of the house.

The family was incomplete without Saffron, a late surprise to my Uncle and Aunt. She was born five years ago and had been the apple of everyone's eye since then. She was currently sitting on the kitchen island and talking fluently to the housekeeper Hannah.

The only family member missing right now was---.

My train of thought was broken by the sound of heavy footsteps rounding the corner. I looked up from my plate to see my twin - Ryan sitting down on the table. He gave his charming smile to all of us and poured some orange juice for himself.

Ryan and I shared sea rover bright blue eyes and he had sandy brown hair which was a casual jumble usually in his case. He was quite muscular, even more than Andrew as gym had a fixed place in his daily routine. Ry was 6'3" and had tanned skin unlike mine while broad shoulders were part of his burly physique. His Roman nose and half-dome cheekbones sat above an oaken jaw.

Hannah placed a plate of pancakes dripping with Maple syrup in front of him. I smiled innocently at her and she just shook her head with an amused smile and placed my Mochaccino in front of me. I grinned happily on receiving my dose of caffeine.

Soon the plates were polished off and we waved goodbye to uncle and aunt. I linked arms with Ash and we chatted about the weekend while walking down to the garage where the boys were ready to drive off in Ryan's Bugatti Centodieci. Ash went towards her Lexus ES while I settled in my own Porsche 911 Carrera.

I waved to them as they pulled out of the garage and with a sigh, I also turned on the ignition of my car.
