Epilogue
He is drowning.
His lungs are burning, desperate for fresh air. He desperately gulps for oxygen but is only assaulted by the bitter, salty seawater. He kicks and splashes futilely, trying time and again to free his rope-bound hands but to no avail.
He doesn’t know if he can hold on much longer.
A thunderclap echoes across the open air, flashes of lightning striking the dark water around him, illuminating the otherwise pitch-black landscape. He scans the surroundings desperately for any sight of land or any vessel which could be of help, but all that meets his eyes are gallons and gallons of eerie, stormy ocean.
As the last of his breath leaves him, so does hope.
He stops struggling, going limp. He takes one last look at the landscape, taking in the ominous, morbid, but yet the beauty of the sight -- the crashing, roaring waves; the turbulent sky and sea. It seems that even nature itself has given up on him.
Closing his eyes, he finally lets go. He surrenders himself to his fate; sinking steadily into the depths as oblivion finally encloses him.
