i light the sage candle

and breathe. the flumes of smoke

hang and float like peaceful ghosts

over me.

lighting it holds such significance that is hard to explain.

it is my ritual.

the candle is beautifully uncomplicated.

a bowl shaped myrtle green three wick candle

that grounds me like none other.

in my humble opinion,

a candle is the best gift one can give.

scent is so closely tied to memory,

so closely tied to experience and aura.

you are giving the gift of living.

it holds a particular aura around it.

earthy, piney, rich, like the outdoors.

cleansing, citrusy, homey for the spirit.

the candle carries its weight.

it holds itself steady.

it waits on my white, dated dresser

the mirror reflecting its energy

driving me to be me.

and for a moment, i am.

right now i am home, but yet so far away.

i am floating, breathing with my friends

in a simple dorm room

like a free bird gifted a new soul.

i am in nature walking with a love interest

breathing in the trees and creeks around me

and for another moment i am not anxious, i am not restrained by myself

i am free.

Cora: Decent story. Slightly predictable turn of events but I didn't think at this point it was a possible twist! I enjoy the stream of thought writing style this has, though some proofreading and punctuation could help a few spots. Recommend this for ebooks and forgive a few confusing errors. Enjoyable t...
