Chapter 1
“BEEP! BEEP-“ I shifted sleepily, turning the obnoxious alarm off; to keep from waking my dad up. Today’s the first day of my Junior year at Moonstar High. A new school, a new town, a new life.. I lazily stumbled out of bed, tripping over a large box doing so. Perks of moving- I thought to myself, getting up. Looking in the mirror I could’ve sworn I saw a monster, but it was just me. I glared at my small form, disastrous brunette hair, and sleepy brown eyes. I looked like I just came back from my grave. I walked into my overly- large closet, grabbing out my favorite cropped top, and jean skirt. After tucking the shirt into the skirt, I pulled on my gladiator sandals and rushed downstairs. “Morning dad!” I smiled, kissing his forehead.
“What’s the hurry?” he chuckled, “ School doesn’t start for another hour.”
“Forgot already? I still have a schedule to pick up, and a locker to organize.” I mumbled, grabbing an apple; and heading out the door. My enthusiasm gained another chuckle from him. It’s obvious, I amuse my dad more than a comedian can amuse an audience.
“Good luck-“ I heard my dad yell, as I closed the door behind me. I giggled softly, I’ve lived alone with my dad since I was seven. My mother was attacked by a wild animal on her way home from work one night, I had been waiting impatiently by the door, ready to show her how well I dressed dad up; I had even got him to wear one of her old dresses. The next morning, we had been called by the hospital. They said she had been found lifelessly unconscious outside of the woods the night before, and explained to us that she wouldn’t be coming back home. Back then, i didn’t understand, I waited continuously for her to return from the hospital; when dad finally couldn’t take anymore and explained to me that mom was in heaven. No matter how much I miss her, her memory is enough to keep both dad and I going.
I sighed, kicking a few stones as I turned the last block before heading straight towards my new school.
Finally arriving; I stared up at the large school, which, unsurprisingly, was surrounded by trees. Like my backyard, the school sat in front of a forest. After I had finished admiring the large school, I headed in; exploring my way to the office.
“Excuse me?” I asked one of the three ladies sitting at the desk, “I’m Baelie Thorne, I’m here to get my-“
“Miss Thorne! How lovely, here you go.” She interrupted, handing me my schedule.
“Oh uh, than-“
“No problemo, sweetheart!”
I awkwardly walked out of the office. ‘Odd,’ I thought to myself.
(7:48 AM- Moonstar High.)
Students had finally started arriving. I sat on one of the walls that rested directly outside of the school, reading a book.
“Hi!”
I looked up confusedly, tilting my head curiously at the girl that stood before me.
“You’re the new girl, right? I’m Olive!”
“Uh, I-“ I stuttered awkwardly. “Baelie,” I smiled, holding my hand out for her to shake.
Instead of shaking my hand, she pulled me so that I was standing, and tightly embraced me.
“We’re gonna be the best of friends!” she laughed, grabbing my hand, leaving my book resting on the wall as she dragged me inside the school.
(Matthew’s POV: ~)
I rolled my eyes, my dad completely ignoring every word that came out of my mouth. Seeing as our family were the founders of this town, meant he head a reputation to withold, and lots of work to keep up with. Sighing in exhaust, I gave up on trying to talk to him, and walked to school.
Suddenly, I remembered that a new student was supposedly joining the school today. New person to torment, this just made my day a million times better...
( A/N: I am a new author here, I'm still figuring things out. I'm writing this as a newly aged teen, and I may not have the best grammar. Other chapters WILL be longer, this is just the start. :) Thank you for those who have given me their time!! Luv you all- Mwah! )
