Chapter 1-Retribution
The van was a dark and cramped space, the smell of sweat and dirt suffocating everyone inside. None of these men had showered for weeks, their hair was turning brown from all the dried blood and mud. One of the men clutched his Glock and looked down at the blood stained floor, pondering what couldve been. Today was retribution day, and each one of them would die today...
Retribution
Kamil kept looking at the floor, tracing all the blood splatter. He looked at his glock and pulled the slide back, locking it. When he went to grab a magazine off his vest, he felt a bullet hole, confirming his mortality. Kamil just released the slide and put the gun in his pocket. Why was I given the dead man’s vest? He looked out the windshield and saw London wasn’t far. They were almost there. Kamil grabbed his pistol and slid a magazine into it, racking the slide and loading a bullet into the chamber. It wasn’t long before the van would explode and there would be hundreds dead on the streets of London.
The black van drove into the city, the driver made a few turns and drove for another 10 minutes, arriving at London Bridge, where the traffic was heavy. The driver made a sharp turn and hit a car, making every other car stop. The owner of the car got out, so did everybody in the van. Kamil pointed the glock at the man and took a shot, hitting him in the stomach and leaving him on the floor in screaming agony. The 16 or so men, previously held in the cargo hold, flipped the safeties on their kalashnikovs and started firing at the idle cars, riddling the metal and windshields with bullets, killing most people inside.
Kamil started firing at the cars, aiming at the drivers side of the windows. Eight people, two bullets each, one reload, repeat twice. Pretty soon, the still able bodied drivers started backing up, to which the men responded by throwing pipe bombs at the moving cars. The military would be here soon and they only had twenty minutes before their van blew up and brung the bridge with them. Kamil looked through the cars for survivors to use as hostages while the other men shot fleeing civilians.
A cop stepped outside his car and trained his sights on one of the men, taking a shot then receiving a hail of bullets from the group. He didn’t even get a chance to close his eyes before he died. The men moved up and kept firing, polluting the air with the sound of automatic fire and screams. Kamil followed suit and started shooting at the remaining civilians. He didn’t have much more ammunition left, two magazines, 34 bullets.
Cops showed up and started dropping like flies. Hundreds of phones recorded what was happening from the end of the bridge. Kamil raised his glock and started firing at the small crowd, the other men doing the same. 17 shots, 17 people. One magazine left, 17 bullets.
Whilst walking the length of the bridge, Kamil had found a man inside of one of the cars, forcefully pulling him out, zip tying his arms and legs together, essentially hogtying him. He then hauled the man over his shoulders and threw him in the van. The only survivor in all this chaos. There´s no negotiating out of this one. Kamil looked at the explosives in the back, mesmerized by the fact he wasn’t escaping this one.
An unidentified shot cracked through the air and snapped Kamil out of his trance. He rushed over to the group, Mahmoud had just been decapitated by a bullet. That could´ve been me… everyone thought. Kamil got on the floor and hastily unbuckled the dead man’s vest, quickly replacing his level II armour with Mahmoud’s level III plate. He grabbed his AK-47 and checked the magazine. Nothing. He grabbed the magazine in Mahmoud’s hand and put it in the gun, pulling the charging handle back and releasing, loading a bullet into the chamber
He slowly inched towards the front of the car, grabbing a smoke grenade from his vest. He pulled the pin and let the spoon fly, he rolled it in front of him and waited for a cloud of smoke to form. *Crack* *Crack* Another two shots.
Kamil looked at his watch.
Five minutes...
Five minutes ’till London Bridge fell down…
