Unexpected Prediction

I woke up and my alarm went off, my thought “What a surprise, “and unsurprisingly my mother voiced my thought, because I’m not an early bird but a night owl. I got ready to go to my virtual world. I am a computer technician in the forensic department working for my country, India. I love my job and enjoy doing it, even though I sometimes want to just take up my yoga teacher’s offer and become a saint, but that includes no chicken so I rejected that idea as soon as it came. I’m currently working on tracking some hacker who hacked a big shot’s account. I hate to admit but that geek is genius. It never took more than a week for our team to track some criminals. But this guy is getting on our nerve. I’m so close to losing my calm demeanor, which really is very important in my job.

Outside my room I can hear my mother’s concern for my mental health; she says I quote “practically living in my virtual den”. It’s true though, it really is my personal escapade. I know it’s rude to ignore but a girl got a job to complete. I love my mom so much but sometimes we have our differences, who I’m kidding, we always have different thoughts. She understands my job’s demands but it’s sometimes hard for her to accept. I have always not been like this, I always balanced my personal and professional life but after that one incident I couldn’t help myself. That incident which changed all our lives, especially mine. I have to focus on something to keep me sane.

I was working late at night as usual in my cabin. My best friends Avanthika and Arundhathi barged in my cabin. It was really rude and I was about to give them a piece of my mind. I looked up from my heaven, I mid stopped myself because of that particular look in their face; they were panicked and downright terrified. It is not like there are many things to scare them anyway. They were the ones who scared everyone away. I asked them what happened, calmly. They just signaled me to follow them. I obliged. That’s when I wished I didn’t follow them. There stood the thing which spoiled my mind for good. It snarled at them and it looked at me with a look which could have scarred anyone forever. I stared at it head-on, probably the dumbest thing to do but the one thing I have learned in my 5 years of spy life was “Your downfall begins the moment you fear, especially if you express it “. It looked dead in my eyes, I didn’t stand back. My friends cowered behind me. It growled so loud, I wondered where the security was. But I didn’t have time to think. Just looking at it face I remembered everything happened before 2 years.

Before 2 years, I was about to give all the data which I collected from an illegal experiment lab, where they experimented on humans. I worked as their technician for 5 years. I earned their trust and became one of them .it sickened me physically to see all this and almost hated myself to just sit back. But I couldn’t risk all the efforts everyone made, especially my best friend’s Isabella. So I had to grit my teeth and act as I’m so interested in ruining these poor children lives. Their aim was to create an ultimate mutation. When asked about the lives of these other children, who were there “EXPERIMENTAL FAILURE“, they simply say: it’s necessary to make some sacrifice to become successful. I thought everyone needed some serious psychological treatment, but something inside me told me that they were gone so far that they cannot be even treated. The children’s DNA was mingled with some animals. They didn’t look human at all anymore. As much as I hate to say this I thought they are better dead. Finally, all those years of hard work was going to get paid. I walked out to slip the chip to my best friend‘s hand. When I was about to give a doctor saw it and he pressed the alarm. Bella distracted them and I ran to call my colleagues. I heard her screams and when I turned they injected my best friend. I couldn’t do anything; I just stood there without moving. She growled and I saw that she lost that warmth in her eyes. Her eyes were red and that’s the moment I know my friend was gone. I was about to shoot but she ran. Those doctors were convicted for their crimes but even when they were about to be put down too, they looked at me with a smug face. They know they scarred me for life.

I searched for her everywhere. I told my higher officials about it but they just ignored and told me that I just need some break after all those horrible nightmares happened in my life. They closed the case by saying that Bella died protecting our country from its destruction and gave a medal to her mother. Her father died in the war, working for our country. She was their only daughter. Her mother, Mrs.Curtz looked at me with so much pain, I almost wanted to cry my eyes out and hug her.

Those memories rushed at me like a brick and I just stared at it who was once my best friend. I told everyone about her but they thought that my memories changed according to what I fear would have happened. Ironically, now I’m her enemy. Life could be so cruel at times like this; I slowly pulled my illegal gun. She is already dead to the world, so I have to be very careful. She growled so loudly and charged at me. I braced myself for the attack, and then strangely I heard noddy’s theme song. All were confused. Then I felt a splash of water on my face gasped and woke up to come face to face to the one person who looked just a little better than that beast, my sister, Anuradha.

God … it was a dream. How I become a computer technician while I’m still in college? Anyways, I’m going to enjoy telling Bella that I dreamed about her true form. It really was the strangest dream I ever had………..

I heard a ping and I noticed it was from my laptop. It was an offer letter from the university I applied for masters in information security. I couldn’t help but think about my dream. God I hope it was just a dream because I’m going to accept the offer……
