Part 1

It was a bright, sunny Saturday morning. The birds were chirping, and you could hear the sound of kids playing. But the clock was ticking, and we were running out of time. Josh, Alayah, Jackson, and I were meeting up with our friend, Makenzie. But little did she know, our visit wasn’t going to be a friendly one.

0

We meet up in Rodgers Park in the deep woods away from all the people. With us we have a large black bag filled with” project supplies” as we told Makenzie. The contents that were really inside the bag were a shovel, some garbage bags, and some other items that would come in handy when we meet up. Makenzie finally arrives. She expressed” Hi guys, are we ready to start our class project?”

0

Jackson replied, “Yes, we are,” and hands her the actual school supplies. The rest of us tell her that we are going to look around for some inspiration while she sets up. We meet by a big tree infested with ants.

0

Josh asked,” Are we sure that this is a good idea?”

0

“Yes! She has betrayed us, and we have forgiven her every time.” Alayah pointed out

0

“I mean, you saw the stuff she was going to post about us. Knowing that none of us have Instagram. She said that Josh should be in prison for a crime he did not commit. That Alayah deserves to die just because she likes girls and that Josh and I “don’t belong in the U.S.” I started.

0

Josh added” And she must pay. She was pretending to be our friend all along.”

0

We agree and head back. We tell Makenzie a few fake ideas and stand in a circle. As we are talking, I carefully reach into the bag and hit her over the head with the shovel. We all look down at Makenzie, unconscious, and spoke This time you will pay for the horrible things you’ve done. Alayah picks up a hammer, Josh grabs the pipe, Jackson grabs a bat, and I grab the rope. Josh swings first. Blood gushing out as Makenzie wakes up crying. Then Jackson swings knocking her out again. More blood. I realized that we would get life in prison if we caught. It is worth it. We all keep swinging until we are sure that she’s dead. The corpse smells like rotten fish and dirty gym socks. We plan to cover it up and hang her so that it looks like suicide. We march to a nearby hose to wash the blood off of the tools.

0

One week has passed. It’s a dark and gloomy Saturday morning. I’m watching the 12-o clock news in my room when a certain headline shows. 14- year old girl found dead in Rodgers park at 8:00 this morning. Police believe it is a suicide but might investigate her close friends and family. I immediately call Josh, Alayah and Jackson. I tell them to meet me at my house. We all meet up and feast upon pizza. I ask,” Did you guys see the news today?!”

0

They all respond “What, No?!”

0

“They found Makenzie’s body. They want to rule it a suicide but are going to be interviewing her close family and friends which includes us!” I shouted.

0

Alayah revealed, “But there are a ton of other people that had a motive to want her dead.”

0

As I am walking them out, 3 police cars pull up. The policeman walks up to us and say, “Come with us, now.”

0

They take us to the station and put all of us in different interrogation rooms. They ask us all the same questions and we all respond with the same answers as if all of our brains were connected. Where were you on the morning of October 23rd? At home. Witnesses show you all met up at Rodgers Park. Care to comment on that? I was at home with my family. Nowhere near Rodgers Park.

0

After a long list of questions and us constantly denying that we were ever at the crime scene, we were finally allowed to leave. So, we don’t look suspicious, we all go our separate ways.

0

The next month or two was constant interrogation. People start raising eyebrows. Wondering if we killed her even though we did. But they don’t know that.

Isabella: This book is relatively fast paced, good character development & interesting plot. As far as shifter stories go, it’s a little off the ‘norm’.
