Roles

A new day. A new chance. A new start.

That’s what I would say if I was positive. But nuh-uh. That’s not anything near me. I’m more of a realistic person, someone who doesn’t believe in love at first sight and miracles. It’s all bullshit if you ask me.

The name’s Tanya. Just a normal 16-year-old girl who’s trying to survive high-school. But it seems like people won’t leave me alone.

Like the ‘annoying’ boy that’s talking to me right now.

“Aw, c’mon! Let yourself have some fun for once!” He’d grin, nudging my shoulder.

“I’m saying it one more time, Drew - I am not interested in that goddamn party.”

“But-” Drew pouted, and I immediately cut him off;

“Zip.” “Bu-”

“Zip.”

“I-”

“Zip. I made a decision, and you better accept that,” I huffed, crossing my arms in front of my chest. “But-” he paused when he saw my cold expression. “Fine.”

“Good!” I smiled, which didn’t happen often, grabbing his hand. “Let’s go to class now.”

A smile was one of the things you almost never saw me do. Very few people knew how to make me do that.

Walking to class, I dropped down by a desk in the back of the class. The teacher wasn’t there yet, and people were talking in small groups. Expect the ‘loners’ that sat by themselves, either studying, looking at a phone, or staring at absolutely nothing.

Everyone had their role.

People knew it. Everyone knew who was who, who had what. Like the parking spot most to the left - it belonged to Nick. It was never said, people just knew it. If anyone parked there, they were dead meat and 100% his and his sidekicks next prey.

Then there was Sarah. A typical bitch if you ask me. She manipulates you, and use you in ways you could never imagine. I hated her. I disgusted her.

Speaking of the devil, here she comes. Luckily she sat down far away The same sentences from ‘What makes you beautiful’ played in my head.

...You’re turning heads when you walk through the do-o-or

You need makeup

To cover up

That bitchy face of yo-o-ours…

Alright, I added the last sentences myself, but I think it’s close to the truth.

Someone dropped down beside me, and I jumped in shock.

“Geez!” I sighed, looking to my left to see who it was. Hazel eyes met my green, and my cheeks flushed red. I bit my lip, not able to find the words. In front of me was the cutest guy god had ever sat on earth. He had messy, soft-looking black hair and those beautiful hazel eyes that I tried to keep myself from drowning in. I noticed a birthmark right below his left eye, that just made him look even cuter.

“Sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you,” he smiled, revealing his perfect white teeth. “I’m-”

The teacher entered class and cut him off with a stare. God, I actually really wanted to know his name.. What the hell am I thinking?!

I wasn’t able to focus. My attention was on the guy that sat beside me. Who was he? I hadn’t seen him before. Welp, he was kinda hot. Just a little.

A note entered the corner of my sight. I grabbed it, sliding it closer with my fingertip and read the words;

Hey, I’m Jason. And who are you, beautiful lady?

I felt the heat rise to my face and I quickly turned my head in direction of him. Then I quickly looked down at the paper to hide my red cheeks. I decided to answer him, grabbing a pencil and quickly writing an answer;

Tanya.

Nothing more, nothing less. I slid it in his direction, and saw him read it. A bright smile appeared on his soft-looking lips. He took his own pencil, and I noticed how big his hands were. Or else mine were just small.

A beautiful name for a beautiful girl

My cheeks went red again. I couldn't help it. Why was this guy so charming and flirty?

Not writing Jason a response, I tried to focus on the teacher. Her long talk about WW2 didn't really interest me, and I immediately gave up and grabbed my phone. Making sure the teacher wasn't looking, I plugged AirPods in and hid them with my hair. Scrolling down the daily mix, I clicked 'Born Without A Heart.' One of my favorite songs.

What felt like a whole time period later, class finally ended. I grabbed my books and scooped them down in my bag, swinging it over my shoulder. I tried my best to ignore Jason and hurried out of class.

"Hey!" Jason chuckled behind me. His voice was just as attractive as his looks. "Why in such a hurry?"

"I- I, Uhh- None of your business!" I murmured, going to my locker and getting books for next class. Jason didn't let me go that easily. Of course.

"Well, do you wanna hangout somet-" he was cut off by another voice.

"Oh. My. Damn. God. Tanya, you got to see this!

Obsidian: He's hilarious. Like, actually. I loved it. You're writing style is great, although you could do with a few less murmurs and mutters.
