Chapter 1
One word I'd use to describe my life is boring. My name is Mike Russels your average teen nerd. Age?...17 and right now I'm late for the bus. Which I rarely am. I stumble into the bus panting. Did I mention I'm very unfit. Cause I am.
"Morning,Mrs. Phyllip."
"Morning, Mike."
The bus jerked forward and I held the bar to steady myself. As the distance between school reduced, I decided to watch the streets outside as the blended in the background. Twenty minutes later, the bus pulled up in front of the school gates. I stepped out and took a breath of school air. Welcome to Oakwood High. Cliche high school with all the social levels. Populate and jocks, average guys and at the bottom of the food chain nerds aka guys like me. I don't want to attract any attention to myself as I walked through the halls and I was successful until I was heading face first to the ground.
I put my hands in front of me to break my fall and folded them as I made contact meeting the ground with a not so nice landing. I turned sitting up to see everyone looking at me simmering and laughing not so subtly. So much for not attracting attention. I stood up and saw Chad, my bully. A guy with an IQ of an eggplant laughing his ass off. I dusted myself and walked to my locker exchanging my bag for books. Time for Chemistry. I entered the lab and got a lab coat and googles and took my seat, front center. Don't judge.
The teacher was a thin guy with a bushy moustache almost looks like Einstein. He stood in front of us and began explaining today's experiment.
"But today we are going to do it in pairs since the chemical is not enough for individual students. So I'll pair you. When I read your name and partner move to the table I've assigned to you."
The class groaned and I with them cause knowing my luck I'll end up with my bully or some stuck up bitch who will make me do all the work. Well that's my life. I had spaced out when he read my name.
"Mike Russels.......uhm.....yes...you're with Hazel Griffin"
Didn't I tell you my luck is not that good. Hazel is the high school 'queen bee's and that means I'm doing it all alone. My work is definitely cut out for me.
"Table 6"
Internally groaning, I walked over to table 6 and sat on the stool. Hazel as usual ignored me and sat on the other. So by now I'm guessing that you think I'm grumpy no I'm not just in a bad mood.
"Okay class, the experiment is going to need your entire concentration." I look at Hazel and smirk so much for concentration. I look at the teacher.
"Okay you may start."
He took a seat at the teacher's table tying away at his laptop and the class began mummering. I began the experiment as usual alone. This was the one class I had no friends. I completed the experiment and began waiting for the lesson to end and since the teacher said we could go after we were done. I secured the flask with a cork and recorded the results. I labelled the sheets, handed in and walked out to an empty hallway.
I walked to the library and got a novel. Halfway through the book, I notice the principal coming towards me.
"Come with me."
I returned the book and followed the principal as his shoes flanked in the hallways the sound echoing in the empty hallways. He knocked on one of the classroom doors and spoke to the teacher. The teacher walked back in and out came a girl with dark hair who glares at me the moment she got out.
Uh oh
Meet Trish, the one person who hates me more than anyone. Why? I don't know. I simply shrugged telling her I knew nothing of this.
"Come with me."
He walked into his office and we followed, he taking his seat across the table. He settled himself in his chair and looked at us.
"Do you know why I've called you here?"
"No sir."
"You, Trish are here cause you're grades are low and we need to do something about it." He said looking at her.
"And you Mike are a straight A student. So I'm saying that you are going to tutor Trish until she gets her grades up."
What the f....
