Chapter 1: The Beginning
Hi, my name is Jane J. and I am 18 years old with a very difficult family. The reason why I say difficult is because my family shows favoritism towards my 25 years old sister and her name is Jasmine J. also. Jasmine is like the idol in this family and when I say idol I mean she is great at everything like singing, cooking, art, math, and more other million things she is good at but me I am horrible at everything. The only thing I am good at is dancing and that is my dream to become a dancer. I can do ballet, hip hop, tap dancing and other fun things that is related to dancing. At least I am good at something. Jasmine gets all the attention in the family and I don't. No one ever in the family have ever ask me " Jane how are you?" or even " Do you have anything plan today?" but all I get is "Move out the way so I can see Jasmine" Sometimes I think I am a mistake in this family but I guess it is true...for me. I remember when I was about 8 years old and my sister was about 10 years old and it was my birthday that day. My whole family was at the house that day and I was so happy about how many present I was going to get. I was in my room getting ready at that moment and when I was going downstairs. I just stopped for a moment when I had to overheard everybody saying "Congratulation Jasmine on your test" and I kept going downstairs to see what was going on when I saw something that made something inside of me broke. I saw my whole family give her a lot of gifts and I went up to my mother. I tugged at my mother shirt while she was giving Jasmine a hug. I kept on tugging until she screamed at me and said, "WHAT!" then I said, "um its my birthday today" and you want to know what she said to me " Its Jasmine time not your time Jane" and what she said immediately broke me. it broke my heart at how everyone in the family show attention to Jasmine but not to me. I went up to my room and started crying my eyes out. I made sure I remembered that day. All of my birthdays started coming in fast and I started to grow a inch while my sister was having the best time of her life downstairs while I was stuck in my room counting what age I would be on my next birthday. No one in my family cared. When I was about 15 years old I wanted to get a job and save money towards getting me apartment out of town away from my family when I turned 18. Oh, How much I worked hard by saving a lot of money. Anyways, I was in the living room sitting on the couch right next to one of my cousins while I was enjoying my apple pie that my grandmother made. Even she show favoritism towards Jasmine. Jasmine was being congratulated for all her degrees that she successfully accomplished in college. I was in my thoughts when I heard my name being called by someone and It was Jasmine.
