Claire
My friends like to make a mess of things and by that, I mean "running away" with skateboards. I tried to pretend that we were just playing but it looked like they were serious. They had backpacks with food in it and a couple of other essential things.
They tried to justify running away because earlier on, I accidently skated into a white table with the wedding cake. It was for a wedding that was supposed to happen later today but after the royal wedding planner's look, it seems like it might be canceled. I'm sure it's not all my fault since they were behind on the flowers and centerpieces. So maybe I just helped them realize what they already know? My friends were supposed to watch me, making sure I wouldn't crash. I don't really have much friends since they sometimes want more than just my friendship but my two best friends are Alixa and Juliet. Alixa is also a princess, so she knows the difficulties of the responsibilities we have.
My dad threw a winter ball for the people of France to bond our countries together. Of course the ball was placed in the beautiful outdoors of France. There would be times where I hated balls because I was the center of attention, everyone wanted to talk to me. I would be over-stimulated and felt claustrophobic. Also because the people would be so fake and closed-minded. France is my favorite place, other than Izana. Anytime I would travel, I would also visit France for no reason in particular.
When I was at a winter ball in France, I met Alixa for the first time, who was a beautiful girl with straight brown hair. I remember that I was sitting next to the dessert table and ate until I was stuffed like a pig. When I looked across the long white table of the table I saw a girl my age eating like I was, stuffing her face with chocolates. We started to talk about the ball, then we went outside to talk more clearly. And she introduced herself to me as a daughter of France. I was shocked, and I told her I also was a princess, we bonded immediately.
I met Juliet, my other really good bestie, while I was sneaking a ride to town. When I first saw her, she was really beautiful with a natural wavy sun-kissed hair with streaks of strawberry blonde going down her back. Her cute aesthetic clothes made me intrigued since I liked wearing the same thing, occasionally with all-black outfits for when I didn't want to dress up.
I spotted her getting food from one of my favorite restaurants. I got off my motorcycle which was my late uncle's. As I snuck past the restaurant, I crashed into her as she was carrying her food. Her brown luminous golden eyes went wide and she apologized as she bent down to grab the scattered food. I didn't understand why she was apologizing to me since I was the suspicious one, sneaking around. I offered to buy her more food and we sat down and somehow, we talked for hours.
After exchanging socials and hanging out more, I decided to invite her to my castle since she was going to find out sooner or later. She honestly didn't know that I was a princess or "rich" as she put it. We all became friends after all the crazy things we did in the castle.
One time we were running around the castle and we ran into a butler carrying a tray. We ran away, and saw him confused as he picked up the tray with the food on it. Luckily, there was a table. And we blamed it on that.
Coming back to the present, my friends ran up to me after I crashed into the wedding cake table. They started to pull me away from the crash. Everything was blurry and I couldn’t walk right and they tried to help me.
“I don’t need help, guys.” Their hands let go of me. I started to walk fast to get out of the way of the bystanders. I saw a big tree get bigger and bigger to my face. My face smacked right into it, and I could feel my face sting.
“Oh, can you help me?” I tried to move my foot, but it was heavy and dead. Probably asleep.
“Juliet! Hurry up!” Alixa yelled at a skimpy figure getting closer to me.
“Gosh, Calm down.” She said as she ran up and panted like a dog.
“Help me.” I whined. They helped me get up. I put pressure on my dead leg, I didn’t feel anything.
“Owww!” I yelped. “That hurt.”
“Are you okay?” Juliet says as she bent down to check my forehead. She put her rosy-smelling hand on my head.
She looked at me, then at Alixa “She looks like she’s okay, just minor bruises.” Juliet wants to be a doctor when she grows up. She has always wanted to be one, and she’s in college studying medicine.
“That’s great! Thank you, Dr. Juliet.” Alixa said smiling.
“Yeah, but she can’t do any more skateboards, sorry Claire.” She said trying not to smile.
“What? You’re going to have all the fun?” I asked, pouting. They started to laugh, that’s when I realized that they were joking around. I don’t know why, but I started to laugh too. Then we started to snort and giggle.
“Claire!” I looked up to see my father walking toward me. “We need a talk, honey.” He said in his frightful voice. I squinetted toward him, then a little white dot off to the side gave my attention that way. I saw the little blurry dot get closer to my feet. It was my little dog, Cosy. She is super tiny, because she’s the runt of her liter. Cosy is a pomeranian, so her being small and all, makes her really tiny. Cosy ran fast to me and started to lick my feet crazily.
“Cosy!” I said laughing. “Stop!” she looked up from my toes and cocked her head. I bent down to pick her up. As I did, I petted her before I stood up.
“My cute little Cosy Bell.” I kissed her little head. “Aren’t you my Cosy!” She yipped a small bark, and licked my face. “Stop it!” For a cute dog, she sure has a long huge tongue.
“Claire, dear…” I stopped messing with Cosy and looked at my father. “We need to...talk.”
“Oh, okay.” he walked into the castle and sat at his desk. I sat at one of the chairs in front of his desk.
“Your mother is going to go to France, she has some...business.” He took off his glasses and rubbed his eyes.
“Okay. When is she going?”
“She already left.” He shifted some papers on his desk, then looked at me with a I-know-that-she left-without-saying-goodbye,-but-you-will-be-fine look.
“Ohh, when will she be back?”
“Couple of months,” He sighed. “Claire, I know that this is hard, but she needs to go to France. You’re 17, you will figure it out.”
“Yeah, umm, I totally get it.”
“Do you?” he stood up. “Do you really? Because Blaire doesn’t understand why her mother walked away to some country without saying goodbye. You must have some questions for her.”
“Yeah, dad” I stood up as well. “I understand that she has business. I’ll wait until she gets back, until then, I’m going to make myself useful. If I have questions, it can wait until she gets back. Or if she gets back.” I walked out of his office and headed down the hall, with my head down. Why did mom leave without saying goodbye? That’s not her, she doesn’t just disappear without saying anything. Blaire is my twin sister, except she has dirty blonde hair. She’s like my best friend, right now she’s at a friend’s house for a week.
I walked to my room and saw my best friends sitting down on my bed. It was silent as I stared at them.
“Wanna have krimpets outside?” Alixa offered.
“Yea!” Juliet sais ethensitic
“Sure.” I said glumly.
“You okay?” Alixa said as Juliet dashed outside, onto my huge balcony.
“Never been better.” I faked.
“I know you’re not, Claire. Tell me.” She said softly.
“Just my mom leaving…”
“Come on!” Juliet yelled from outside. “Let’s eat...KRIMPETS! My fave.”
“You’re gonna be fine. Until, Let’s eat krimpets and cry.” I laughed and joined Alixa who was now outside, pouring lemonade in cups.
I grabbed some krimpets and a cup of lemonade, and sat down with Juliet. Alixa soon joined. We talked about Julian, and some new clothes that Alixa got. They decided to do a ‘lover romantic plan’ with boys they were going to meet at the ball party tomorrow. They were acting out what would happen. Alixa was the guy, and Juliet was practicing. I was listening partially.
“...Then I walk up to you, and say ‘Hello-'”
I walked to the balcony on the other side of my friends, and looked out at the trees. They swayed the west, flowing freely, and secure. If only I can lift myself up and fly like trees do. I can be wild and free. Wild to nature, Flying free against the wind on my skin. As I stared out, I saw a butterfly flapping its wings. It settled down beside me, landing on the balcony. I lightly brushed my hand under it, catching the legs. It fluttered a bit, then lifted off toward my face, the butterfly kissed me lightly on the cheek, before flapping it’s powerful wings and soared through the sky and off to the sunset. I felt a little dizzy. I set my hands on the balcony to steady myself.
“Are you okay?” Juliet rushed to my side, to help me.
“I’m okay, I just need to go to the bathroom.” I walked inside my room, and put my hand to my forehead. I decided that I needed to walk, and that only happened if I walked to the bathroom next to the ballroom. I walked outside my room.
“Where are you going-Ouch! Why did you do that?”
“Leave her be.”
I smiled at my friends. I felt much better after I walked a little bit.
