Intro
The world is changing and we all know it. When you peer outside your window you can see the air shifting the world’s mood. You are waiting, and the world spins around you. Effortlessly. Carelessly. You are nothing compared to the vastness that is the world. You are forced to comply with our ever changing universe. As was coined to Darwin’s evolution ideals, this is “survival of the fittest.” Adapt or go extinct. That is the motto of the world we now live in.
Humans have left the world desolate, abandoning it as they had destroyed what remained of it after the toxic pollution and the multitude of diseases that arose in 2050. This was known as the Great Extinction as the world’s population was cut down by half every day it lasted. To aid in their inevitable extinction, scientists began tests that changed the course of biology. Lesser companions were brought up the evolved pyramid at the same level humans were. Animals were humanoids. The very thought was impossible decades ago until Darwin’s theory was put to use.
True adaptations were forced upon creatures, and the strongest survived leaving powerful beings in their place. The new beasts were believed to shift to their former state at will. Forced to live in peace with the monsters that created them, the world was divided. The creatures lived on what was once the American continent and the humans lived in their polluted western nations, isolated from the abominations they had created. Contact with these beings was limited. Humans were advised to stick to their own, reside with their own race as they were still considered rabid and destructive with no complexity of mind.
The year is now 2094. We are entering the world of Marissa Young, a teen with an intelligence that surpasses her superiors by far. Her interest has only been in biology, specifically evolution, and her life was about to take a turn that she would never have expected.
The first three chapters are pretty long, but they really help with the overall plot
