Chapter 1
There it is, that look again
Can’t I be enough for all you need?
My beginning is fresh and exciting
My chest is about to explode from so much joy and elation!
Then, that warning again, ‘Lower your eyes’
Oh, how I hate it!
My eyes are the window to my soul
The silent voice I cherish so much
How else do I communicate when my words are ignored?
I can see my goal, but will they let me reach it
That invisible glass-ceiling keeps closing in on me
Like a hydra, when I break one layer another appears in its place
I hope I don’t end up another statistic
My end is unknown
Look into my eyes and repent
Can we stop this game?
This silly game where you put me down
And I make a fool out of you.
