Dreams and discovery

The moon shone through the big window illuminating the room, Livia was perched on the seat entangled by another one of her books. This one was about a prince named Sebastian, it wasn't your typical romance novel but she enjoyed it none the less. The prince must marry a lady named Adella who thinks of him just as arm candy, she is snobby and spoiled but his father wishes him to marry her. Livia loved this book, though she had never read it before, she was told that there are a lot of twists and turns. She loved how different their lives were compared to hers, of course she lived on a farm and they lived in a palace but in their fictional world that had knights and true love.

It was getting late and Livia knew her father would be mad if he caught her still awake. Livia begrudgingly set her book on her nightstand and drifted to sleep.

When Livia woke the next morning the sun was shining through a window that she did not recognize, that was the moment when she realized she was not in her room. A woman looked startled and rushed to her bedside.

~Livia's Point of view~

"Lady Adella!" The maid’s voice chimed "You"re awake!"

Adella? Where am I and why is this woman calling me Adella?

"Miss, could I have some water?" The words came out scratchy and rough, my throat burned.

"Oh! of course! I'll fetch The Prince on my way, he'll be happy to see you awake." She curtsied and headed out the door.

The Prince? Where the hell am I and how did I get here? With the woman gone it is so silent it's almost creepy, I am finally given the chance to look around the room. It is decorated with silk curtains and plush carpet, I'm trying to piece together my thoughts when the woman from earlier and a man come into the room. He was tall, he probably towered over her, his blonde hair lay nicely on his head. His blue eyes reminded her of the sea, they were deep almost navy.

"Lady Adella you gave us quite the scare" he gave a light laugh probably trying to ease the tension hanging in the room.

"Um, what happened?" I knew that if I asked too many questions they might think I'm crazy so I stayed cautious with my words.

"You do not remember?"

"Oh no! I um I do, it’s just foggy is all."

"Oh of course," he seemed to understand "You jumped in front of the carriages and well now we are here."

The woman cuts in sensing the tension "Your Highness, maybe we should give Lady Adella some space."

"Of course, I'm glad to see you awake Lady Adella" They both retreat out of the room.

Why were these people calling me Adella? And where is the real Adella? ...if there is one

I decided to take a walk maybe that would jog my memory. Men and a few women were standing down the large hallways, if I just didn't talk to anyone then maybe I can get home without anyone knowing that I’m not Adella. I was walking down the hall when I walked by a mirror, my short platinum blonde hair has been replaced by long honey-colored waves, nothing had seemed to change other than my hair. How did I even get here? All my rational theories had been thrown out the window at this point, at first I thought maybe I traveled here and then lost my memory but now that would never make sense. I made my way up a large staircase and by a large door, I heard two people arguing.

"Sebastian, I am your father! You will listen to me!" The unknown man roared from behind the door.

"Lady Adella?" I turn my focus away from the door to see another woman walking towards me. "What are you doing? You know this floor is forbidden to all the ladies."

"My apologies miss, I must not have been paying attention. I should have known better" As I said those words the shock on her face could have been seen miles away.

"You've never called me miss before milady" It seems like this Adella girl isn't or wasn’t the nicest person.

"Well, maybe I should start Miss-"

"Claire. My name is Claire" Her smile widened and I could tell this made her happy

"Um, Miss Claire maybe we should leave before I am caught-"

"Too late for that." I tall man stood, he was even taller than the prince

"Your Majesty!" judging by her words I’m going to assume that right there is the king and I am in a lot of trouble.

"Your Majesty, I did not mean to eavesdrop, I wasn’t paying attention and I must have wandered into the hall" I have no idea how strict he is and I am holding my breath waiting for his reaction.

"Its alright Lady Adella, but do not make a habit of it." Oh, thank god.

"Of Course." I instinctively curtsy and head on my way with Claire following closely behind.

After that whole fiasco, I decided to lay low and I needed to figure this out. I was studying the room when I heard a familiar knock on the door.

“Come in!” I see the prince come in along with another woman but this one seems different. “Oh, Your Highness! I was not expecting you.”

“My apologies Milady, I thought seeing Lady Margret it would make you feel better…”

“Claire? Margret? Sebastian?” Oh no...

“Lady Adella? Are you all alright?” Margret’s voice spoke with worry.

Am I in my book?
