Chapter 1
It was a brisk, fall morning. The wind was at mild speed only making the 45 degree temperature feel perfect. Leaves fell from the trees and onto the cars that were stuck in traffic on this particular day. Reporters from all around the state gathered around the local town hall to hear the news. Cameramen rushed from the trucks to put their SD cards into their cameras, and film their reporter on the scene. People tried to jump the rails in excitement for the news from Mr. Devin Bryant himself. Cops stood at the rails with weapons in case of large violence.
Devin Bryant was an entrepreneur that made technology to fascinate the human eye. Devin was named Time Magazine’s Man Of The Year 3 times in a row. Devin was also in the top 3 list Forbes Magazine’s Top 10 Richest People In The World. A month ago when Devin Bryant announced that he would be announcing something “ Out of this world,” children and adults alike shrieked with joy to gather outside of the town hall to hear the news. Now, little children ran around in the courtyard of the enormous building that was the nearby town hall which Bryant Industrials rented out for it.
A siren blared, and people calmed down as children rushed back to their parents to see what was happening. Cops began to become tense knowing that this was the time that people would try to hop the fence, or shoot Devin Bryant. The air went dead silent. Cars stopped blaring horns. The wind stopped howling. The trees stopped shaking. Children stopped shrieking. It’s like the whole world went silent for the entrance of Devin Bryant. Two large men walked up a marble staircase that looked good as now towards a large door. The door was large, and it had silver knobs to open it by. The door was golden, and people began to cheer as the two men opened up the large door. Behind the door appeared Devin Bryant and his family.
Devin Bryant’s wife was Bethany Bryant. Bethany was a kind woman who worked as a lawyer for Bryant Industrials and in normal court cases. Bethany had blonde hair, and green eyes that glimmered in the photographs that reporters took of the husband and wife. Devin had an amazing smile that all the girls loved. Devin had brown hair, and blue eyes. Devin grew up in a small town, and had dreams of being rich and happy. Devin had a fascination for invention as a child, and was the captain of the Robotics Team in high school. While Devin attended college, Devin met Bethany in a class they had together, and fell in love. Once they graduated from college, Devin and Bethany moved in together, and soon got married. Devin worked in his basement on technologies, and would soon invent the first ever human helping robot. Every home bought one of Devin’s robots, and Devin soon rose to the top of the world. Devin and Bethany then would have a child. David and Bethany ended up naming the child Adam.
Adam had brown hair, like his father, and green eyes, like his mother. Adam was currently 8 years old, and strived to be like his father when he grew up. Adam was homeschooled by his father, and Devin would teach Adam extraordinary things that he had never heard of before. Devin also taught Adam how to build robots back like Devin did when he was a child. Adam would bother his parents by bumping his robots into their feet. Adam enjoyed inventing new things, and enjoyed being homeschooled.
After time, the Bryant ’s decided to have another baby. Devin and Bethany named him Vincent. Vincent was usually seen being carried by Bethany Bryant in her arms. Vincent was barely a year old, so Vincent had to be handeled with just the right care. Devin and Bethany would kick the babysitter out even if the babysitter greeted the baby. Devin and Bethany very much cared for their newborn.
When Adam, and not Vincent because he is still a baby, found out about the big announcement, he wouldn’t stop asking his father what it was. Bethany told her son that even she didn’t know what it was. Devin did like to keep to himself, in business, and personal life. Now, Devin would let the whole world know his biggest secret.
David and Bethany stood tall over Adam with one hand on each of his shoulders, and Bethany carrying Vincent in the other. Voices couldn’t be heard over the click of cameras. Reporters attempted to talk over the cheers of the audience. Children jumped up and down as they had now seen the man that they had seen on television. Adults took out their phones to take photos of the famous family as they stood, smiles and all, for the cameras. Each photo seeming like it was more joyful than the last, their smiles increased the more photos were taken.
After a few minutes, cops silenced the crowd as Devin stepped up to the podium. Devin attempted to speak, but the roars of the crowd silenced his talking. Devin waved to the crowd as cheers continued. Bethany and Adam smiled as Devin took in the crowd. Devin used to perform in school plays as a child, so he was used to an audience. The cheers lasted for a few minutes, then the crowd silenced for Devin to speak. The audience went silent. The reporters went silent. The cameras went silent. The people at home went silent. The whole world went silent. The world was about to be changed by one man. One man who would have his name cemented into the history of the world. History was about to be changed forever. By one man who had one dream. One man who went by the name of, Devin Bryant.
“ Good morning everyone,” Devin said. “ I am Devin Bryant, in case you didn’t know. For years, I have created technology that had boggled human’s minds. Ever since I was a child, that was all I wanted to do. Modernize the human mind. For years, I have finally been able to accomplish that. Although I created The First Ever Human Helping Robot, I had always wanted something more. For years, I had worked hard at something that I am proud to announce today. But first, I want to thank the workers of this amazing company that I have been thankful to own. These people put 100% effort into whatever they do, and they are a big reason why I am able to announce what I am going to announce today. I also want to think my board of committee working with me to help legally grant my big announcement. I also want to thank my wonderful family for supporting throughout my life. They have given me the support to keep going and strive towards my goal. I also want to point out my handsome son, Adam. Adam is a sweet boy, and even though he is 8 years old, he has the mind of a CEO. I wouldn’t even worry if I were to die because I knew that he would run the company just as well as I did. That’s why I’m naming my son, Adam Bryant, the heir to Bryant Industrials!”
The audience cheered as the little boy jumped up and down, waving at the audience. Devin and Bethany hugged their son with joy while cameras clicked, and reporters tried to get in as much information as possible. Devin and Bethany let go of their son, and David walked back to the podium. The crowd went silent once more for Devin to speak.
“ That’s not even the biggest announcement,” Devin said. “ There’s still more to announce. Now back to the big announcement. Outer space. When you think about it… what do you think? The stars? The other planets? The other galaxies? The other life forms? For years, I’ve always wanted to explore what’s beyond our reach. But technology has evolved so much that we can discover things we’ve never dreamed of. But has anyone dreamed of creating an ecosystem in outer space? A living community? Now that is something you will probably only see in the movie when you went to the theatres as children. Ever since I built that robot, I’ve wondered if I could create an ecosystem in outer space. Now, it has become a reality.”
One of the big men grabbed a poster board from a man sitting next to the stage, and handed it to Devin.
“ Introducing… the Bryant Industrials Space Observer I.”
The crowd gasped as they stared at the poster board. It was a spaceship!!! A spaceship that had 3 different levels!
“ The lowest level of the ship will be maintenance, our hangar for our mini spaceships, along with escape pods for emergencies. The second level will be our dining room, our ballroom, our mall, and everything that we will use during our daily activities. The upper level will be residence for our spaceship guests. You will be able to register for residence after the announcement, or you could register online. But make sure to register quickly because spots will fill up quickly. The ship will be leaving in a week so make sure to pack your things early so that we are able to takeoff and venture through outer space. The design of the spaceship was approved by NASA and every other space station in the world, so we are able to be sure of safety in orbit. I can’t wait to see who registers for the Bryant Industrials Space Observer I! After about 15 years, we will send back scientists from the ship to build a second one. Who knows? This could be the future of our Earth! Our Earth is dying, and we may need to evacuate. But, we already have you covered. Register now, and experience the future of residence in OUTER SPACE! Thank you!”
The Bryant family once more posed for pictures, while the audience screamed and cheered. Families scrambled from the audience towards the sign up station eager for a new life. Cameramen immediately focused their cameras on their significant reporters, and the reporters began to ramble on without a script to go off of. The Bryant family turned away from the cameras, and creeped behind the curtain as cameras still clicked to photos of the family. People tried to hop the gates, but cops pulled out their guns and aimed at the people who attempted to do so. The audience went into chaos even though the main attraction had left the show. With one speech from one man, history would be changed forever. People would realize there was another way of living life. With one complete launch of a spaceship into orbit, people began to prepare for the future. 10 years would pass, and people would grow up. And the son of Devin Bryant would become legal to run his father’s company.
