PROLOGUE

"I'm sorry"

We've all heard that one before. Just another empty word said out of routine and me being the stereotypical human female says:

"It's fine." why I said this? I'll never know. Maybe if he can lie about actually caring about me for one second and actually apologise for once in his life and really mean it. Maybe then I can pretend that I'm not hurting. That what he did didn't affect me. That what he said were just words and not splinters in my heart. As small as splinters can be, they still hurt. So as many times I tell myself that it never hurt,

It did... It does.

My whole life I've been lied to and my whole life I pretended to not care. And Hayden Carter is just another lie that I pretended to not care about. So I did what most girls would do in a situation like this.
