Old souls
Id noticed as the birds started chirping and the sun rised once again, awake of course as insomnia had other plans for me, that my pantry was lacking sources, the roaches scattered as I reached for the last Oties bar rights at the back. So tired, drained that not a thought passes about my appearance had bothered me, as I strolled down the quiet highway, glaring at how the sun shimmered on the lake and the light drizzle hitting my windscreen creating a light melody almost like chimes in the wind
I wondered through the aisles and came across an old lady deciding on a softener for clothing, I stand and my mind wonders about the old lady, I noticed the wearied out smile lines on her face and wrinkles almost like crumpled up tissue paper, as well as the permanently tanned ring mark on her left-hand ring finger, clear she was a widow, I felt for the old lady, the scars she tried to hide with beige stockings showed she had aadventurous life.
I passed her and smelt the strong scent of rooibos and cigarettes and noticed her heavy breathing, a smoker, id never thought such a pure old lady would inhale such a death full substance, maybe it helps with her pain, I was not to judge as she was far older than I. she latched onto her leather purse as she reached for the last bottle of scotch, she sighs and admires it then laces it over so gently in her basket, obviously that bottle meant more to her than just the substance. She looked broken but has plastered a fake smile on her face. The dark bags under her eyes were proof she carry’s too much in her heart, I really felt for her, as she wanders far from sight I thought as the juvenile I am I thought I had it though until I realized there are people out there that only knew life with their soul mate, and now walk with a mind of stone but a heart of glass, that changed me.
