Eternal Sunshine

Sun is out, music blasting as I cruise down Sycamore street in my royal blue 2016 Sonata, anticipating my long awaited return home.

Nodding my head and tapping my fingers along to 'Eternal Sunshine' by my favorite artist, I start to slow down readying for the stop sign ahead. As I approach the music abruptly stops and my mothers ring tone begins blasting instead.

I tap the screen on my dashboard.

"Hello." A warm and familiar feeling rushes over me as I am surprised to heart my sisters voice.

"How far are you?" My sisters voice rang through my car speakers.

"I'm turning on Sycamore now." I tell her as i check both sides and turn on my passenger sides blinkers.

"Okay Great." She squeaks out with a horrible attempt to hide her excitement.

Focusing my attention back to the road I tell her I'm hanging up.

Bringing my car to a slow start and turning the corner I begin to straighten the wheel and reach out to the screen, starting my song over. I start to hear a loud screeching and look in my rear view mirror to see a vehicle spiraling out of control and quickly heading my way.

In that moment my smile faded and time slowed.

Almost immediately reality set back in and that car is rushing at me again. Another second passes and time comes to a complete stop and I am wrapped with a warm ray of light.

The light is blinding but I hear the giggling of two kids in the background and the ringing of what sounds like the bell of a child's bike. The scene begins to unfold but cut short by a loud crashing sound and a violent jerk of my body.

My vision clears and I am now watching as the whole world begins to flip in-front of me.

"NOOOOO!!" I hear out of the distance and manage to turn my head in time to see my mother and sister running out of the pretty blue hoes on the corner.

From my speakers the voice of Jhene Aiko is now singing to me and soothing m in this moment between life and death.

"only the good things" Her beautiful voice sings.

Absolute despair and terror displayed on my loved ones faces in response to the scene unfolding in-front of them; I decided to close my eyes and allow the harmony to over flow me.

Again her voice rang and spoke directly to my soul.

"Only the good the good the good." She harmonized perfectly.

With little time left and love in my heart, I clung onto mu most favorable memories. Leaving behind a beautiful life and no regrets.
