Where it all starts and ends
Once upon a time, near the forest not so far away from the city there was a modern house. All the animals were running away from the screams coming from inside the house. It seemed like someone was throwing unidentified things in there.
Two girls were arguing about something. Something serious. Maybe it’s about a boy getting in between of them? Or a job? Money? Maybe lent things that never found their way back to the owner? Or a dead person that was found.
After this silence that seemed to last for eternity ended, you hear a girl hysterically screaming.
“How did that happen?! Why did you do that?!” - you hear the pain in her voice covering the whole forest. Then two brown eyes turns to her. The dark brown haired girl who was starring at her, was calm, but her blood was boiling. You can see it in her eyes and her palms clenched in a fist.
“You wanted this too. I did it for you. He was not good for you!”
“Yes, I wanted to forget him and never see him again. But I never meant for you to do such a thing, Kyla!” - she said holding her tears back. The blonde girl looked at her for the last time and left the forest house.
At this moment, Kyla understood all the pain she put her friend through...
*A month prior*
You hear the clock ticking in the almost empty office. Ten desks in the room all of them occupied with documents, papers. The lights are dim only one person is sitting in the office. Kyla is counting the seconds, staring at the clock on her desk hoping time would go faster is she stares at it. She sees the clock shifting to 9pm, the excitement overflows her. She jumps out of her seat, for the second time today, Kyla is so tired from all the work she just did.
You see the girl grabbing her black leather coat, putting in on and picking up her red bag, turning the lights off and running home where no one is waiting for her.
Kyla is working in a magazine office, but the job doesn’t even pay enough for her to get a car, so she walks to the bus stop. The office is in a centre of New York, you know it’s busy there any time of the day.
She’s passing by neon lights, laughing people, restaurants and cafes, Kyla is taking her time to observe the outside world since she doesn’t have much time to leave the office. In one of the bar windows she sees someone familiar, someone so close to her heart it makes her smile.
She sees her friend, no, her best friend, but she isn’t alone. The similar silhouette from the other side of the window seems to be uncomfortable, looking around. The football match is playing in the background and all the drunk, old men have their eyes glued to the TV.
Kyla recognizes the person next to her friend - Noah, her friend’s boyfriend. His eyes are also glued to the ball on the TV, in a split second the bar turns upside down when the men stands up cheering in an excitement, someone must have had scored Kyla thought. While the men were standing her friend Juno was sitting down, not paying much attention to the TV.
Kyla sees a man dressed as a waitress approaching her friend, touching her shoulder, gazing at her. Kyla opens up the bar door, no one notices her, she pushes further through nasty, sweaty old men and finally reaches her friend.
“Can I have a glass of water, please?” - She interrupts the contact between her friend and this perverted waiter, he looks at Kyla not trying to hide his angry face and disappears in the crowd of people.
“What are you doing here?” - the blonde girl hugged her with a smile.
“I was just passing by and saw the familiar face. So here I am.” - Juno didn’t say anything, she just sadly smiled looking at her friend. She was happy seeing Kyla after two weeks of no contact. Suddenly she noticed her red, tired eyes. Who knows how much Kyla slept for past two weeks?
“Kyla,” - Juno touches her face with a concern in her eyes. “Are you working again for that witch?”
“No.” - Kyla denied it.
“We have been through this.”- Juno didn’t hide her disappointment.
“Okay, I’m working for her, so what?”- Kyla puts her arms on the desk and stares at them.
“Have you seen your face? You look like a zombie!” - she threw her hands in to the air.
“I need money, Juno. And this is the best job that I can find here.”
“I’m just worrying about you.”
“Me too.” - she looks at her friends boyfriend who is coming towards them.
“One beer!” - he shouted and turned to girls.
“Noah.” - Kyla said with a disgust on her face.
“Kyla.” - he said grabbing a glass of beer and walking away.
But within a second, both girls hear a loud noise of glass breaking. Juno excuses her and runs towards her boyfriend. She starts cleaning his mess while he’s already ordering another glass of beer.
Kyla couldn’t take this anymore. She stands up from the desk, angrily steps inch close to him and says.
“Stop drinking. You smell like alcohol.”
“Don’t tell me what to do.” - he hisses at her.
“I will, if you will leave my friend for good. The poor thing can’t have a normal life with you.”
“Screw you, bitch.” - the brown haired girl's eyes were much more darker than they were before. She jumped from the high bar chair and strongly squees her bag handle, she can’t take the anger no more, it overcomes her.
“Okay then, we’ll see about that.” - she said it under her breath and left the bar without saying goodbye to her friend.
