Summary

The killer from Books 1 and 2 escapes prison with the aid of a young woman, and the Battered Women's Underground. Adelaide is instantly on the case - her intention is to recapture the escapee and the young woman. While on the run, people begin to fall victim to murder, and Adelaide starts building the evidence she needs to put the killer away for good. She also notices a man following the two women. Using her skills as a slick detective, she narrowly misses catching them, again and again. The Underground keeps getting in her way, and she doesn't know why. Now her mission is to catch the escapee, the young woman, and the man following them. She also needs to thwart the Underground. She cooks up her plans, and decides on one that's iron-tough.
