Once More for the Lion King

I should be updating my other story, "Life Cycle" but instead I'm writing this very fluffy drabble. I regret nothing! I don't own anything, either, if you were wondering.

"Doctor?"

"Yeah?"

"Doctor?"

"What?"

"Doctor?"

"What is it?"

"Doctor?"

"What is it, Rose?"

"Doctor?"

"What?!" The Doctor finally snapped, sticking his head out from under the grating of the TARDIS where he had been rewiring the chronistic-displacement scanners.

"I'm bored," Rose moaned. She was lying on her back across the jump seat with her head dangling off the edge so that her (bottle) blonde locks brushed the ground. Her face was starting to turn a bit red from the angle, but she didn't seem to care.

"Why is it my job to fix that?" The Doctor asked his eyes drifting back to the underbelly of the TARDIS.

"Because I've declared it to be your job. You are officially the Minister for Anti-boredom. Now entertain me," Rose said imperiously, somehow managing to keep a straight face through her speech.

The Doctor looked back at Rose and raised an eyebrow. "Minister for Anti-boredom?" He asked. Rose nodded. "Well. Can't argue with that, now can I?" He sighed, recognizing that she'd never let him alone now. He'd just have to fix the TARDIS later.

Time was, he wouldn't allow anyone to inform him that he was the "Minister for Anti-boredom" and order him to entertain them. He used to have more dignity than that. Then Rose Tyler waltzed in with her blonde hair and her charming grins, and all his Time Lord dignity flew out the door and into a black hole, with little to no hope of returning.

Sometimes he missed his dignity. But then Rose would grin at him with that little sliver of tongue poking out, and the next thing he knew, he was making her a hot chocolate and agreeing to watch Disney movies.

He was pretty sure the human term for this was "whipped."

"Let's watch the Lion King!" Rose exclaimed, flipping herself upright, and nearly going cross-eyed from dizziness as the build-up of blood left her head.

The Doctor groaned. "That'll be the fourth time this week; and it's only Tuesday!" He complained, knowing all the while that if she pushed for it, he would spend the next hour and a half watching the Lion King. Again.

"But it's so good!" Rose grinned.

And there it was. That damn tongue. Really, he ought to run tests on her, see if she didn't have some sort of psychic ability; it was a bit ridiculous, how easily she was able to influence him.

"Fine. But I pick the movie next time," he agreed. He's made this deal with her before, and he had never once picked the movie they would watch.

"Deal!" Rose cheered, and turned to run to the media room.

The Doctor walked behind her at a more moderate pace, wondering when his life had flown so very far off course. But as he settled down on the sofa next to Rose as the opening strains of "Circle of Life" started to play, and she lay her head on his shoulder, he knew he wouldn't trade this life for anything else.
