Chapter 1
Pounding on my front door awoke me. I rolled slowly out from my covers and sat on the edge of my bed. I rubbed my eyes; trying to rub the sleepy from my eyes. I felt extremely drowsy in the moment.
“Kyle!” My mom yelled from downstairs. I blinked rapidly a few times before I got up and went downstairs. I went to the bottom of the stairs and went around the corner and stood facing the front entrance of the house. My mom stood at the door facing a man in a suit that was flanked by a soldier in full black military gear. The man wore shaded sunglasses but I felt that he could see just fine in day or night. I couldn’t see his eyes. He’s suit was silver, grey and he wore a red tie. The man seemed rough and dangerous that made me pause in my place. The soldier behind the man wore a face mask and goggles so he remained faceless. I looked at my mom in confusion.
“Mom, what’s going on?” I asked. My mom turned and looked at me.
“He hasn’t said.” She turned and crossed her arms and scowled. “Why are you here and why were you asking my son?” My mom asked.
“Miss Green, I apologize for coming at this hour, but I need you both to come with me right now. I work with Homeland security.” The man in the suit said as he reached into his suit jacket and pulled out his badge and credentials. My mom studied them for a few seconds before looking back at the man.
“Has my son done something wrong, Sir?” My mom asked. My mind raced thinking of something extremely illegal. Nothing came to mind.
“No Ma’am. He hasn’t done anything illegal. In fact, he has shone himself to be quiet the opposite in fact. I shouldn’t waste time. Ma’am, I need you and your son to pack bare escentails and anything you wish to keep. We have a disaster brewing and I’ve been sent to collect you.” He finished long winded.
“Really.” My mom said in a suspicious tone. “Disaster? Explain.”
“I can’t, Ma’am. You’re son has been selected as one of the few to join others from around the world to survive. Family is included, but if we are to go we must go now.” The man said.
My mom laughed and exclaimed, “Right, and the Martians are invading us now from the Moon.” She crosses her arms. She started to say something, but stopped. “What is that?” He pointed off into the sky.
After watching this conversation go down; I was extremely confused. Me? Chosen? Not likely, but was it possible? Also what the hell is mom pointing at. I stepped up next to her and stopped as I spotted what she was pointing at. The man turned and gazed up at the light in the clouds that showed parts of a massive hull of a starship. Me and mom stood agasted at the sight. The soldier reached up and pinched the talk button on his radio before whispering soemthing into his mic before walking off towards our driveway entrance.
“That Miss Green, is the disaster I’m trying to save you from.” The man in the suit said firmly.
“Mom?” I said as I turned to look at her.
She turned quickly to the man. “Give us a few minutes to pack.”
