Summary: Juniper Redwillow only ever wanted two things in life. Revenge on the people that murdered her family, and freedom from the cult-like town of Leona. She had a very detailed plan of what to do, that is, until the mayor of Leona arranged her and her best friend Sylene’s marriages in an attempt to control the two barely-legal girls. That’s when Juniper creates a new plan, one that involves driving non-stop directly after their highschool graduation. What Juniper doesn’t count on is the two girls stumbling into Sy’s soulmate, an Alpha, and hiding in a very rural town in Minnesota. From there trouble continually finds her in the form of vampires, drag queens, shadow people, and a certain purple-eyed dragon boy. All she has to do to complete her ten-year plan is not get attached. Simple, right?

Prologue
Juniper
One Year Ago
The whole world was a dark rainbow. A spiraling, dizzying rainbow of fractured love and light. Yellow, turquoise and splotches of moss green were disrupted by crackling black veins. This was my world. This was my everything, and it all had to come crumbling down.
“I love you Piper,” he said. I longed for those words and the person that said them. I wanted to stay here forever and hear those four simple words for the rest of my life, but I couldn’t. I focused on his face. The strong brow and proud smile that always greeted me. Eyes that mirrored mine completely stared back at me without seeing me. They were beacons of light in this cruel twisted lie.
“ I love you too,’ I said knowing that the people I wanted to hear those words never would. They were gone and I wanted to join them, but not yet. I watched his beautiful caring smile as he said to me again “ I love you Piper”. I crushed the shards of glass stabbing into my heart. The world around me shuddered and the cracks began to split open where all the vibrant colors met. This was why I had to end things here and now.
I gathered all the love in my heart, and forced it to flood my body. There was a rush of warm, rosy, heat that coursed through my veins until it reached my hands. Lifting up my wide-spread arms to the world. To my world. I released it all in one push, and watched the world around me shatter into a million green shards.
