Heartbreak and Forever

“Avery, do you want to go to my family cabin for the weekend? It will be the last vacation before we graduate and go off to college.”

“Yeah,sure that would be fun” she smiled at me with her gorgeous bright smile. Little did she know it was gonna be the last vacation we would ever take together and the one i would break her heart on. The vacation she would never forget.

We take the two hour drive to my family cabin. Avery is sitting next to me listening to the radio and playing on her phone. She is so happy.it almost makes me reconsider breaking up with her… almost I know that it’s the right decision.

We pull up to the cabin. It’s a two bedroom cabin that overlooks a huge lake. I turn and look at Avery and she stares at me with a concerned look on her face. I ignore the look and smile “ Are you ready to get out and go for a ride on the boat or just relax in the cabin?”

“Yeah we can just chill in the cabin tonight it was a long drive.”

“Ok sounds good.” I reach for the door handle and get out of the car and I grab our bags.

“So i’m gonna show you where the guest room is. I’ll be in the room right down the hall. Get settled in and i’ll meet you in the kitchen for dinner.” I look at her and smile.

“That sounds good, I’m starving.” she looks at me with a smile in return.

We spent the rest of the night watching tv and cuddled up on the couch. I know this is gonna be the last chance i have to be this close to her.when tomorrow comes it will all be over.

The next morning I woke up to the smell of bacon. I get out of bed and I go to the kitchen. Avery is at the stove cooking breakfast. She looks stunning.

“Morning beautiful, did you sleep well?” I smile at her and give her a kiss on the cheek.

“Yeah, I slept great,hope you’re hungry, I think I cooked too much?”

She was right. I looked around the counter and there were pancakes,bacon,eggs,muffins,grits and coffee. “It looks amazing.”

We sit down to eat and clear my throat. She looks up at me with her beautiful blue eyes.

“ after breakfast lets get dressed and go down to the lake.”

“ okay sounds good.”

After breakfast I cleaned up the dishes,while Avery got dressed. Then I get dressed and knock on her door.

“Avery you ready?” she opened the door “ yeah i’m ready, lets go.”

I grabbed her hand and led her down the pathway to the gazebo that was built on a dock on the lake. I take her hands in mine. “Avery, I love you so much. But we are about to graduate and go to different colleges. I’m sorry but we’re done.
