Chapter 1: when your world starts to crash
Dear Journal, Hello! My name is Luka. I am a 18 year old who is the captain of the basketball team in a small town in Indiana. Senior year was supposed to be my year. Every one says wait until Senior year, when you rule the school, you can be the captain of the team, you have easy classes, have a senior prom, make a final run for a basketball state championship, and finally graduate high school and move on to college. Did I get any of that? No I didn’t. Why you ask? I was robbed!! I was robbed of all of these once in a lifetime experiences all because of the corona virus. It was February 28, 2020 and my team had just won a sectional championship, we were having a great year as a team and preparing for a championship run. We were prepping for regionals, and the team and I were looking pretty good. I went home on that Thursday night, Mom had spaghetti waiting on the kitchen counter when I walked into the door. I grabbed my plate and headed to the living room where I found my mom watching the news. “Covid -19” is spreading quickly leading to nursing homes to close to all vistitors, said the reporter. That should of been my first sign. Up to that point I was on top of the world at school. We had just won a sectional championship and we’re headed to regionals with prom and graduation just around the corner but the next day at school my world was tilted upside down.
