Poem

Her eyes were bright, flecks of yellow.

0

She smoked cigarettes, as she hated cigars.

0

She maintained a comfortable existence,

0

but she prevailed that summer.

0

A marvel of construction.

0

The mounting color on her round cheeks.

0

Sleepless nights, consuming flames.

0

But there wasn’t a reason to submit.

0

That water was delicious.

0

She rested her eyes upon the sea,

0

gazing upon intruding lovers.

0

A lady in black, lurking close behind.

0

Her little neck was bare.

0

Her awkward, childish bow.

0

The strike of the piano sent a shiver through her soul.

0

She was ill and desired rest.

0

The mosquitos bit her firm,

0

but the stinging was numbed by her fear.

0

The sea’s voice was seductive.

0

Enfolding her body in a cold, close embrace.
