You Should Be Sleeping
We're three of a kind,
but we can't take it with us when we go.
That much, we know.
Will we care, when we take the land?
No, for Gryffindor, and tall we stand.
It was not ours to take.
But we did it anyway,
just like we always do it anyway.
I suppose all that's left to do is leave,
and join you in the armory.
I didn't want to come at all,
but they're running from us at a crawl.
And poor, dear flights from death
cannot handle life like the rest.
Are you ever going to see
just what you've taken from me?
The ocean never ceases flight,
just like us, so alone this night.
The midnight oil burns with us,
and red's come over all the colors rest;
A sweet cascade of vicious death.
Laughter air is scarce today,
and not one of us shall run away.
A ghostly peril, running sway;
A spider crawls the foyer whilst the kittens play.
Acid, silver, spinning tongue,
No one's gone, and no one's won.
In our custom fashion, we will try
to take them with us when we close our eyes.
The battle's lost for some tonight,
and last words did not escape the fight.
A runaway brawl is no sensitive flower,
still to listen to your heart break with power.
There is no respectful chorus here,
and this is what we all most fear:
That we've fought, and died, goodness on our side;
But when the time is come, though of us there be many,
and love had flowed freely here,
We can't take it with us when we go.
