The Modern Romeo And Juliet
Aggh. Why was it so hard to keep her cool around him? It wasn't like she liked him…whatever….but it still bothered Amy. She sat by the windowsill, tapping her head lightly with a pen. What had happened to her? She had never even looked twice at a guy until Ian walked into her life.
Seriously, she thought, of all times to fall for a guy it had to be during the clue hunt. At least it was over now, but it didn't mean she stopped liking him. Oh well. As she considered all of these things, there was a knock at the door.
"Amy," Ian's voice came from beyond the door," are you ok love?"
"J-Just fine," Amy stammered, fumbling with her pen," do you need s-something?"
Opening the door, uninvited, he walked in. "Nothing really I just wanted to see you," Ian responded smoothly.
"I-Ian really, what i-is it?" Amy said. "I told you," Ian said, tilting her chin up," I just wanted to see you." Amy blushed, looking straight into his hazel brown eyes.
Abruptly letting go of her, he said,"Anyways, what were you doing?"
"N-nothing, just reading some Shakespeare stories," Amy said, starting to feel slightly more comfortable. "Pray tell me which, love?" Ian asked.
"Romeo and Juliet," Amy said distractedly," his stories are really great."
"Indeed they are," Ian agreed. "And," Amy continued earnestly," the way he writes is brilliant. Romeo and Juliet is really well written but it's really a tragedy, I feel for them. They couldn't live a normal life or even like each other without their families warring on each other."
"Does that really seem so story-like to you?" Ian asked, a subtle hint in his voice. "What do you mean?"Amy said, turning to look at him, eager to learn more about the story.
"There are real life situations similar to that that we know of love," Ian said. After a few moments silence, Amy realized what he was talking about. "You mean….us?" she said slowly.
"Right on the nail love," Ian said softly. Turning away from Ian, Am felt her face turn red, betraying her emotions.
"I'll just take my leave then?" Ian suggested, walking towards the door. His hand on the handle, he turned the knob slowly. There was a long silence as he stood, waiting for a response. "You kn-" Ian began, only to be cut off by the sound of movement.
Seconds later, he felt a warm hand on his back, clenching his white shirt. "Please stay with me just a while longer," Amy begged, her voice barely above a whisper. Grasping her hand in his, he said, "As you wish, Amy."
