Pain and love

Luke Skywalker trailed down the wooden bridge of Endor; he was sad about his Father, he was still in agony from the pain the Sith lord had put him through up on the death star. He tried to forget it though; his Father had been bad for a long time and wasn’t going to be fixed with a snap of Luke’s fingers, it was good that he died for the love of his son, instead of his son actually killing him. The pain of lightning that had travelled through Luke’s body was still causing him a massive discomfort but he needed to find his sister and his future brother in law before he cared about himself.

He saw Leia standing with Han, that’s when a forced broken smile formed on his face as his sister charged into his open arms. He felt safe there, it felt like home to him; a long lost family member who had been staring him right in the face for a handful of years waiting for them both to realise. Luke never wanted to let her go because she was safe and so was he, his sister span him on the spot until he was facing his best friend Han Solo; he walked forward into Han’s open arms as Leia patted his back gently. Han Solo’s hug wasn’t as warm and fuzzy as Leia’s but Han Solo was also Luke’s honourable brother, even if their relationship had a rough start.

As Luke went around hugging people and shaking hands his head seemed to get hotter and hotter but once again the young Skywalker learnt to forget the pain, it was the Jedi’s main character trait. He soon wondered off to an empty space where he looked across the forest to a bridge where the ghosts of Yoda and Obi wan Kenobi were stood/sat looking at Luke with small smiles on their faces; a new ghost found its way by the side of the two leaders, the ghost of Anakin Skywalker. The young and handsome face of the man Darth Vader had once been before he turned to the dark side of the force.

Luke smiled at the three leaning his arm on a wooden beam connected to a house; Leia saw her brother from a far, he seemed lost but happy at the same time, an emotion she didn’t understand. She walked slowly placing her hands on his shoulders, he turned to her and chuckled leaning in to her. He didn’t lean in her for comfort, he leant into her because if he hadn’t; he would have fallen right there and then. She turned him around but he had the chance to look once again at the three ghosts before he was standing with Leia and Han Solo.

The music played on, C-3PO and R2-D2 were stood with their backs facing the trio and Lando Calrissian; Luke kept smiling every time someone turned to face him; he kept his biggest smiles for his twin because she needed them the most. He felt her Leia’s hand slip into his, he linked his fingers around hers and watched as she did the same to Han’s hand; Solo automatically tighten his grip around Leia’s small hand, Luke did not. His hand remained limp around Leia’s as he knew if he used any of his strength to hold her hand, his body would crumble and surely fall.

The music started to die down and the Ewoks’ slowly returned back to their small little huts; Wicket the most bashful but brave of the Ewoks’ hugged Leia’s leg like an overprotective teddy bear. She giggled patting his head, “On you go.” She said pushing him lightly, the Ewok jumped up and down on the spot before waddling off towards his bed, “Cute.” Leia smiled, she looked up and noticed her brother. Luke was stood next to a tree with his head leant gently on the trunk with his eyes tightly closed, her smile faded into a face a worry, “You okay Luke?” She questioned.

“Yeah.” He replied back opening his eyes.

“You sure, kid?” Han Solo said jumping forward as Leia clung to Luke’s arm, “You look a little under the weather.” He said truly concerned.

“Just tired.” Luke smirked back at his small family.

“We can stay here tonight, then return back to our base.” Leia told them kissing Luke’s cheek.

“You two go, I’ll follow.” Luke told them.

“If you sure.” Leia said walking off to a sleeping place that had been laid out by the Ewok’s for the remaining rebels, “Come one Han.” She told him taking a seat.

“Two seconds.” Han Solo smiled at her, he turned around changing his expression to a serious one, “Listen kid, if there’s one person Leia cares about most it’s you.” Han told the injured man, “If she has the force like you, she knows you’re lying. I know your lying, you’re a terrible liar.” Han Solo told the man with concern for both Luke’s safety and the safety of himself if anything happened to Luke; Leia would surely take out her pain on him and his face was his best feature.

“The Emperor he had power I never got to understand; like lightning that came from his supply of the force. I was hit a few times.” Luke lied; it was far more than a few.

“A few?” Han Solo questioned.

“I’m fine.” Luke snapped.

“Liar.” Han said turning away from him, Luke was about to follow when a sharp pain over took his entire body causing him great discomfort, he grunted but not loud enough for Han to notice but Leia did. It was Leia’s pale white face Han Solo saw before he had heard scream of Luke Skywalker, he turned around to see Luke holding his head; he bolted forward just in time to catch the young boy before he hit the hard oak ground, “Luke?” He muttered, “Come on Luke, don’t do this. Not yet kid.”

“Luke!” Leia screamed charging over; Han slowly and gently transferred the limp Luke to his sister’s arms. “He’s hot, Han he has a fever.” Leia said in a panic holding her hand on her brother’s forehead.

Lando charged of handing Leia a wet piece of cloth, she pressed it on Luke’s forehead but all the boy did was shiver in her arms, “I’m cold...” He moaned pushing Leia’s hands away from him, he was easy to fight against when he had a fever and Leia won the small battle in a matter of seconds, “I hate you.” The man moaned in his feverish state.

“No you don’t.” Leia told him, “But I’ll hate you if you die.” She told him with tears running down her cheeks.

“He won’t die.” Han Solo handed Leia two blankets that Wicket had kindly donated from his own hut, “It will give him a comfort, just don’t wrap him too tightly.” He told her.

“I knew you cared.” Leia smiled sadly at Han Solo as they wrapped Luke in the blankets. “Thank you.” She said grabbing his hands.

“Can you please do that somewhere else?” Luke mumbled under his breath, he pulled Han’s fingers away, “She’s—my sister.” He muttered.

“Sorry.” Han told him, Luke once again fell unconscious; Han sat down patting the ill boys shoulder as Leia locked her finger with Luke’s hair.

It was calm for a short while, Luke stayed fast asleep on Leia’s lap as the both Leia and Han spoke about the events that had led them to this day; the young Skywalker slept and never once stirred. Leia kept implying to Han Solo that if they were to have children, they had had enough practise with Luke to be able to take on a child. “Stop it!” Han exclaimed, “I’m not ready yet.” The man moaned.

“You’d be a brilliant Father Han. Without us Luke wouldn’t be half the Jedi and man he is now, we both helped him on his path.” She told him, Han Solo smirked.

The smirk was short lived when Luke started to move rapidly into Leia’s arms, “Luke!” Han exclaimed, Leia moved away and both helped Luke stay in a safe space as he wobbled were he lay, “What’s happening?” He asked Leia.

“When fevers are high, they can end up like this.” Leia said in a panic. “Calm down Luke, please.” She cried.
