Ballroom

"How boring," Marshall Lee drawled, leaning and slumping into his chair, staring out the window, into the garden where his servants and maids ran about frantically.

"Why am I having this ball again?" He asked monotonously.

"For you to socialize, of course." His pink-haired friend answered, not looking up from the book he held. Marshall sighed again.

"Why?" He asked again, insistent.

"Because you're also a ruler in Aaa, Marshall. You have to socialize with the other royals eventually." Prince Gumball answered, looking up from his book.

"I socialize with you," He huffed, blowing his hair from his face. "And I'm the king of vampires, of the Nightosphere— hardly anyone or anything would want to 'socialize' with." He added, grumbling. Gumball only sighed and shook his head.

The King of Vampires, Marshall Lee, was a self-proclaimed recluse, shutting himself in his lonely castle, mostly to keep away from sunlight, which usually caused him terrible pain, caused by his unexplained perpetual illness as a childhood. As a result of his childhood illness, and lack of sunlight, it caused his skin to turn a deathly grey colour, adding to his title as 'King of Vampires'.

"Well, for one, you're one of the most sought after bachelors in both Ooo and Aaa," Gumball added, closing the book and reaching for another. Marshall replied with a long, dragging sigh.

Albeit his odd skin color, he was, admittedly, handsome; his stark black messy hair, and blood red eyes contrasted against his skin, complimenting and heightening his features, giving him a tall, dark and alluringly mysterious aura and look.

"That, and I hear the human heroes are also attending the ball." The pink prince added. He let out a snort, waving a hand, uninterested.

"Why would those goody-goodies come to a ball hosted by me?" He asked.

"Well, for one, most of the royals of Ooo and Aaa are attending, they have to make sure there aren't any problems that happen."

He gave an ironic laugh, "If anything, I'm the problem in their books."

"Perhaps, to the hero." Gumball shrugged, "I think Fionna just seems to think you're just grumpy." He chuckled.

He looked over his shoulder to glare at his friend, snorting in response. "That girl—" He sighed and shook his head, "She doesn't have any sense whatsoever in the rabbit head of hers."

Gumball chuckled, "Whatever you say, Marshall. Fickle is the heart and mind, as they say." He retorted quietly, returning to his book as Marshall continued to grumble and complain.

Obsidian: He's hilarious. Like, actually. I loved it. You're writing style is great, although you could do with a few less murmurs and mutters. I know it sounds critical, but I have the same problem and I hate it. Overall, it was one of the best stories I've read on here so far. I liked it better than those M...
