“Wake up sleepy head.” Tina said. As she walked over to Sarah snoozing in on her eighteenth birthday. She couldn’t be more proud of her little girl all grown up.
She had so many plans for her today. Tina was so excited for Sarah. She was going to enroll in college soon. She wanted to enjoy these moments before her baby girl left for New York.
“I’m awake, Mom.” Said Sarah groggily. “Why are you waking me up so early?”
“You realize your wasting daylight. Today’s the big day! We have to get you up and moving. Your party is this afternoon. I am going to take you to get a mani and pedi before we pick out your dress.” Said Tina
“Mom, you do realize that I’m not big on parties. It’s only 9:00 o clock.” She said after glancing at the alarm on her night stand.
I know my mom is just worried because I’m moving out soon. I was born and raised in a small town. Hermann, Missouri has been my home since I can remember. It’s one of those towns if you blink you miss it.
For as long as I can remember this towns be amazing to my family. One day I hope to come back and run the family business. I’m going to college for my bachelors.
I get out of bed and walk towards the bathroom. I see my dad looking at me with a smile on his face. I’m so lucky to have my parents. I think to myself.
“Happy birthday Sarah.” My dad said to me.
We are in the car headed to St. Louis. My dads driving. Moms in the passenger seat rambling about how excited she is.
I’m in the back seat messaging my best friend. When all I hear is my mom yell “Steve watch out.”
Then everything went blank.
